The authors report the case of a cystic pancreatic cancer with pulmonary metastasis to illustrate the unusual radiographic halo-sign appearance of nodular/consolidative change with surrounding ground glass pattern and also to highlight the histopathological background underlying this pattern.
A case of congenital pseudarthrosis of the clavicle is presented. Congenital pseudarthrosis of the clavicle is an entity that has rarely been recorded in the radiological literature. The etiology of the condition remains obscure. The radiographic appearance is characteristic.
Acetabular labral ossification is an uncommon condition. We present a case of bilateral idiopathic acetabular labral ossification with no predisposing factor. The differential diagnosis of its plain radiographic appearance is discussed.
A case of cherubism in a 9 year old boy with no familial history is presented. Clinical features, histologic appearance, radiographic findings, differential diagnosis and rationale for treatment is discussed.
STUDY DESIGN Prospective physical measurement of the sagittal vertical axis (SVA). PURPOSE To evaluate a simple method for measuring SVA by analyzing its relationship with radiographic measurements and clinical appearance. OVERVIEW OF LITERATURE No studies have examined physical measurements using the cranial center of gravity (CCG) in a relaxed standing position. METHODS The physical mea...
Perfluoro-N-octane (PFO) is a heavy liquid that is used as an aid for complicated retinal surgical procedures. Although PFO is usually removed intraoperatively, the radiographic appearance of retained PFO may mimic an intraocular foreign body or vitreous hemorrhage. As the use of PFO in retinal procedures has become more widespread, recognition of its imaging appearance has become important in ...
Erlenmeyer flask bone deformity (EFD) is a long-standing term used to describe a specific abnormality of the distal femora. The deformity consists of lack of modeling of the di-metaphysis with abnormal cortical thinning and lack of the concave di-metaphyseal curve resulting in an Erlenmeyer flask-like appearance. Utilizing a literature review and cohort study of 12 disorders we found 20 distinc...
The aim of this report is to present two cases of canalis basilaris medianus as identified on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in the base of the skull. The CBCT data sets were sent for radiographic consultation. In both cases, multi-planar views revealed an osseous defect in the base of the skull in the clivus region, the sagittal view showed a unilateral, well-defined, non-corticated, tra...
UNLABELLED Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) represents a disorder characterised by an abnormal accumulation of histiocytes in miscellaneous tissues. The bone is commonly affected, especially the flat bones, the spine and the long bones. Some lesions in children such as a "vertebra plana" or a solitary lytic lesion of the skull may be suggestive for LCH, whereas others can be confused with a ...
Approximately 20% of patients with congenital sensorineural hearing loss have radiographic abnormalities of the inner ear. A broad spectrum of anomalous patterns have been described, most of which have been lumped together under the term "Mondini's dysplasia." We feel that this grouping of many dissimilar entities under a single umbrella term is unwarranted. Based on a review of 63 patients wit...
