Introduction Malignant sinonasal tumors comprise less than 1% of all neoplasms. A wide variety of tumors occurring primarily in this site can present with an undifferentiated or poorly differentiated morphology. Among them are esthesioneuroblastomas, sinonasal undifferentiated carcinomas, and neuroendocrine carcinomas. Objectives We will discuss diagnostic strategies, recent advances in immunoh...

BACKGROUND Inverted papilloma involving the temporal bone is an extremely rare occurrence. Reports in the literature suggest a higher recurrence rate and association with squamous cell carcinoma in Schneiderian-type papillomas of the middle ear than in sinonasal Schneiderian-type papillomas. OBJECTIVES To investigate the expression of apoptosis-related proteins, markers of cell proliferation ...

Sinonasal-inverted papilloma is a benign tumour with a high rate of recurrence, but possible malignant transformation. Therefore, investigation of predisposition to malignant transformation of sinonasal-inverted papilloma gives clinicians the opportunity for adequate treatment. Topoisomerase II-alpha (topoII-alpha) and Ki67 are markers of cell proliferation in both normal and neoplastic tissues...

Sinonasal tumors may grow to considerable size before presentation and in view of their relation to the base of skull, orbit, cranial nerves and vital vessels; a precise diagnostic and therapeutic planning is needed to achieve the optimal results. We report a case who presented with unilateral nasal blockage, rhinorrhea and episodes of epistaxis which diagnosed as sinonasal inverted papilloma a...

We report the imaging features of a rare sinonasal myxoma situated over the right nasolacrimal duct in a 5-month-old male. We emphasize the importance of including sinonasal myxomas in the list of differential diagnostic possibilities when encountering a nasolacrimal gland mass in an infant, and describe the CT and MRI characteristics of this rare entity.

Clinical and radiological signs are not specific, and are common to all sin...

BACKGROUND Primary sinonasal mucosal melanomas are aggressive tumors with a poor clinical control by current treatments, raising the urgent need of novel strategies. METHODS By fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), direct sequencing, and immunohistochemistry, we investigate the spectrum of molecular abnormalities in a cohort of 32 cases of primary sinonasal mucosal melanomas. RESULTS W...
