Abstract Dimethyl aminoethyl azide (DMAZ) is a liquid fuel in the space industry. Although this non-carcinogenic, its wastewater suffers from some hazardous pollutants, such as sodium (NaN3). A hybrid process of coagulation–flocculation and chemical reaction with nitrous acid was applied for treatment. The Taguchi method used optimization. Coagulant concentration, rapid mixing intensity, durati...

Background: Coagulation is a treatment procedure for metalworking fluids (MWFs). This study aimed to optimize coagulation using four coagulants and compare the results. Methods: In this research, the outputs of a coagulation procedure in chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal, turbidity, and the release of oil were investigated using four coagulants, ferric chloride (FeCl3), ferric sulfate (Fe2(...

Cupuaçu (Theobroma grandiflorum Schum) is an Amazonian Basin native fruit whose fruit pulp is consumed as a juice which presents high density, viscosity, and turbidity. Pectic enzymes, usually yielded by microorganisms, are used to reduce the juice viscosity and turbidity. The present study aims to evaluate the use of pectic enzymes when processing cupuaçu juice. The cupuaçu juice was obtained ...

In this study, coagulation performance by using biological flocculants (BFs; produced from strain Bacillus sp. F6) for turbidity removal was investigated. The results demonstrated that BFs were able to eliminate turbidity from kaolin clay solution over a wide dosage range ( DR = 6–20 mg L ). The removal efficiency with BFs reached 86 % on average, lower than 95 % with Al2(SO4)3 ( Al = 6.5 mg L ...

Reservoirs are manmade habitats, intermediate between rivers and lakes, presenting distinct hydrological and morphometric characteristics, with differential mean water residence time. They also present proper vertical and horizontal organisations, and their evolution depends on several variables acting on different special and temporal scales. The water quality evolution of the Itaipu Reservoir...

The great potential of the convolutional neural networks (CNNs) provides novel and alternative ways to monitor important parameters with high accuracy. In this study, we developed a soft sensor model for dynamic processes based on CNN measurement suspended solids turbidity from single image liquid sample be measured by using commercial smartphone camera (Android or IOS system) light-emitting di...
