Sagdeev’s Quasipotential approach is extremely suitable for studying large amplitude solitary waves in plasma. One can derive all the one soliton results of perturbation methods and can compare it with the exact results obtained by the Quasipotential (also called the pseudopotential) method. However comparatively fewer works in relativistic plasma and plasma with trapped electrons have used thi...
We show that the Quantum Hall Soliton constructed in [1] is stable under small perturbations. We find that creating quasiparticles actually lowers the energy of the system, and discuss whether this indicates an instability on the time scales relevant to the problem.
The Degasperis-Procesi equation can be derived as a member of a oneparameter family of asymptotic shallow water approximations to the Euler equations with the same asymptotic accuracy as that of the CamassaHolm equation. It is noted that the Degasperis-Procesi equation, unlike the Camassa-Holm equation, has not only peakon solitons but also shock peakons. In this paper, we study the orbital sta...
We predict the possibility of strongly inelastic soliton collisions in a weakly discrete medium from the analysis of twosoliton solution to the nonlinear Schr . odinger equation and confirm the prediction numerically. The effect turns out to be qualitatively independent on the particular type of perturbation. The conditions of mutual trapping of the colliding solitons are discussed as well. r 2...
in this paper, we try to use modeling based on singular perturbation theory, in order to control satellite attitude during the wide rolling angle maneuvering through nonlinear h∞ control strategy. differential equations describing dynamics of the satellite are presented first, and by choosing the appropriate dynamic model for actuators and based on the standard singular perturbation model, the ...
We calculate the spin-polarizabilities of the nucleon by means of dispersion relation, where the pion photoproduction amplitude predicted by chiral soliton model is utilized. We consider the Nπ and ∆π channels in the pion-photoproduction amplitude, and also evaluate the contribution of the anomalous term of the π0γγ process. In a narrow decay-width limit of the ∆ particle the result coincides w...
Many important problems in the theory of integrable systems and approximation theory can be recast as Riemann-Hilbert problems for a matrix-valued unknown. Via the connection with approximation theory, and specifically the theory of orthogonal polynomials, one can also study problems from the theory of random matrix ensembles and combinatorics. Roughly speaking, solving a Riemann-Hilbert proble...
Chirped soliton interaction in strongly dispersion-managed wavelength-division-multiplexing systems.
We theoretically analyze nonlinear interactions between chirped solitons in dispersion-managed wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) systems. We employ the perturbation method to evaluate frequency and chirp shifts caused by collisions among different WDM channels. It is shown that a chirped soliton suffers less frequency shift and time displacement than an ideal soliton, indicating its potent...
We study propagation of dispersion-managed solitons in optical fibers which are modeled by the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a periodic dispersion coefficient. When the dispersion variations are weak compared to the average dispersion, we develop perturbation series expansions and construct asymptotic solutions at the first and second orders of approximation. Due to a parametric resonance...
