A data simulator that can facilitate the development of improved sampling and analysis procedures for spatial analysis is proposed. The simulator, implemented in MATLAB, provides a graphical user interface and allows users to generate data layers satisfying given spatial properties and a response variable dependent upon user specified functions. It has a modular structure and is capable of mode...

iran is one of the world's arid regions and exposed to dust particles in the air. this is important in spatial and temporal terms as well as the affects human health. in this paper a day when due to the amount of dust particles visibility reduces to 5,000 m is considered the dusty day. in the spatial and temporal analysis of dusty days 38 synoptic stations were studied. in order to conduct data...

Using a matrix of drop size distributions (DSDs), measured by a microscale array of disdrometers, a method of spatial and temporal DSD interpolation is presented. The goal of this interpolation technique is to estimate the DSD above the disdrometer array as a function of three spatial coordinates, time and drop diameter. This interpolation algorithm assumes simpliŽ ed drop dynamics, based on cl...

Many different algorithms can be used to optimize spatial network designs. For spatial interpolation of environmental variables in routine and emergency situations, computation time and interpolation accuracy are important criteria. The objective of this work is to compare the performance of different optimization algorithms for both criteria. Both adding to and deleting measurements from an ex...

Starting from a 2-D interpolation scheme presented elsewhere in this report, we develop an algorithm for interpolation of 3-D data. Spatial prediction lters are used to estimate the apparent dip between pairs of traces. These dip estimates are combined to give a local estimate of the true dip in 3-D, which is then used to perform interpolation.

We consider spatio-temporal interpolation of geographic data using both the reduction method, which treats time as an independent dimension, and the extension method, which treats time as equivalent to a spatial dimension. We adopt both 2-D and 3-D shape functions from finite element methods for the spatio-temporal interpolation of 2-D spatial and 1-D temporal data sets. We also develop new 4-D...

In this paper, pipelining concepts is adopted to increase the processing speed of image scaling algorithms. The proposed algorithm consists of pipelining stages along with a linear space-variant edge detector, a low complicacy sharpening spatial filter, and a simplified bilinear interpolation. The linear space-edge detector is used to discover the image edges by a lowcost catching technique. Th...

A method is presented for fast interpolation between medical images. The method is intended for both slice and projective interpolation. It allows offline interpolation between neighboring slices in tomographic data. Spatial correspondence between adjacent images is established using a block matching algorithm. Interpolation of image intensities is then carried out by morphing between the image...
