This paper presents an exponential-based spiral dynamic algorithm (SDA) as an improved version of the original SDA. A simple structure with a unique feature of a spiral model in SDA leads the algorithm achieving fast convergence speed and short computation time. However, adopting a constant radius and a constant angle into the spiral model of SDA causes the algorithm to trap into local optima s...

Clinical specimens cultured on two selective fungal media, inhibitory mold agar (IMA) and Sabouraud dextrose agar (SDA), were compared with respect to recovery of fungi. Of the 840 fungal isolates recovered, 69.3% grew on both IMA and SDA; 24.9% grew only on IMA; and 5.8% grew only on SDA, showing that IMA is superior (P=0.003).

We apply the technique of supervised discriminant analysis (SDA) for in-flow detection in droplet-based magnetofluidics. Based on the SDA, we successfully discriminate bivariant droplets of different volumes containing different encapsulated magnetic content produced by a GMR-based lab-on-chip platform. We demonstrate that the accuracy of discrimination is superior when the correlation of varia...

In this paper, we reformulate the quasi-static spectral domain analysis (SDA) applicable to a lossy anisotropic multilayer asymmetric coplanar waveguide (ACPW). The SDA formulation also incorporates two-layer model of a conductor thickness and the concept of effective permeability to account for the low frequency dispersion due to the magnetic field penetration in an imperfect conductor. The pa...

Semisupervised Discriminant Analysis (SDA) is a semisupervised dimensionality reduction algorithm, which can easily resolve the out-of-sample problem. Relative works usually focus on the geometric relationships of data points, which are not obvious, to enhance the performance of SDA. Different from these relative works, the regularized graph construction is researched here, which is important i...

Macromolecular interactions play a crucial role in biological systems. Simulation of diffusional association (SDA) is a software for carrying out Brownian dynamics simulations that can be used to study the interactions between two or more biological macromolecules. webSDA allows users to run Brownian dynamics simulations with SDA to study bimolecular association and encounter complex formation,...

We introduce a new security notion for public-key encryption (PKE) that we dub non-malleability under (chosen-ciphertext) self-destruct attacks (NM-SDA), which appears to be the strongest natural PKE security notion below full-blown chosen-ciphertext (IND-CCA) security. In this notion, the adversary is allowed to ask many adaptive “parallel” decryption queries (i.e., a query consists of many ci...

Deer antler preparations have been used to strengthen bones for centuries. It is particularly rich in collagen type I. This study aimed to unravel part of the purported bioremedial effect of Sika deer antler collagen type I (SDA-Col I) on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. The results suggest that SDA-Col I might be used to promote and regulate osteoblast proliferation and differentiation. SDA...

The most attractive feature of SDA is its operation at a single temperature, which removes the need for instrumented temperature cycling as with PCR and the ligase chain reaction. Highly reproducible temperature profiles, over a large array of samples, can burden the accuracy and expense of an amplification technique. However, the expense of a temperature cycler is offset somewhat by the cost o...

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of 4 levels of dietary protein (20, 30, 40 and 50%) and lipids (2, 4, 8 and 16%) on the magnitude and duration of specific dynamic action (SDA) and postprandial nitrogen excretion in the subadult white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei using computer-controlled metabolic chambers (continuous-flow respirometer). We determined the oxygen consumption rate at 1 h in...
