The eukaryotic cytoskeletal protein tubulin is a heterodimer of two subunits, alpha and beta, and is a building block unit of microtubules. In a previous communication we demonstrated that tubulin possesses chaperone-like activities by preventing the stress-induced aggregation of various proteins (Guha, S., Manna, T. K., Das, K. P., and Bhattacharyya, B. (1998) J. Biol. Chem. 273, 30077-30080)....

in this work, we define a fuzzy soft set theory and its related properties. we then define fuzzy soft aggregation operator that allows constructing more efficient decision making method. finally, we give an example which shows that the method can be successfully applied to many problems that contain uncertainties.

Recent research on nanofluids has offered particle clustering as a possible mechanism for the abnormal enhancement of the effective thermal conductivity (k) when nanoparticles are dispersed in liquids. This paper was devoted to verify experimentally and theoretically the significance of the effect by altering the cluster structure, size distribution, and thermal conductivity of solid particles ...

Divalent metal ions are essential for the efficient catalysis and structural stability of many nucleotidyl-transfer enzymes. Poly(A)-specific ribonuclease (PARN) belongs to the DEDD superfamily of 3'-exonucleases, and the active site of PARN contains four conserved acidic amino acid residues that coordinate two Mg(2+) ions. In this research, we studied the roles of these four acidic residues in...

Most stromal corneal dystrophies are associated with aggregation and deposition of the mutated transforming growth factor-β induced protein (TGFβIp). The 4(th)_FAS1 domain of TGFβIp harbors ~80% of the mutations that forms amyloidogenic and non-amyloidogenic aggregates. To understand the mechanism of aggregation and the differences between the amyloidogenic and non-amyloidogenic phenotypes, we ...

The carboxylic groups of glutamic acid and aspartic acid residues of catalase (CAT) were chemically modified using the treatment of the enzyme with 1-ethyl-3-(3'-dimethylamino) carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC) and neomycin. The effect of covalent attachment of neomycin on the enzymatic activity, conformational and aggregation properties of CAT was investigated. The modification of CAT with diff...

BACKGROUND The regulatory subunit (R) of cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) is a modular flexible protein that responds with large conformational changes to the binding of the effector cAMP. Considering its highly dynamic nature, the protein is rather stable. We studied the thermal denaturation of full-length RIα and a truncated RIα(92-381) that contains the tandem cyclic nucleotide binding (C...

The analytical characterization of biopharmaceuticals is a fundamental step in the early stages of development and prediction of their behavior in bioprocesses. Protein aggregation in particular is a common issue as it affects all stages of product development. In the present work, we investigate the stability and the aggregation kinetics of A33Fab, a therapeutically relevant humanized antibody...

Cells that have been pre-exposed to thermal stress can acquire a transient resistance against the killing effect of a subsequent thermal stress. The cause for this phenomenon, called thermotolerance, seems to be an enhanced resistance of proteins against thermal denaturation and aggregation. This resistance can be expressed as an attenuation of damage formation (less initial damage) or as a bet...

The effect of dextran sulfate on protein aggregation was investigated to provide the clues of its biochemical mechanism. The interaction between dextran sulfate and BSA varied with the pH values of the solution, which led to the different extent of aggregation prevention by dextran sulfate. Light scattering data with thermal scan showed that dextran sulfate suppressed BSA aggregation at pH 5.1 ...
