Here, we evaluated time-dependent changes in the effects of ultraviolet (UV) and nonthermal atmospheric pressure plasma (NTAPPJ) on the biological activity of titanium compared with that of untreated titanium. Grade IV machined surface titanium discs (12-mm diameter) were used immediately and stored up to 28 days after 15-min UV or 10-min NTAPPJ treatment. Changes of surface characteristics ove...

Hydroxamate binding modes and protonation states have yet to be conclusively determined. Molecular titanium(iv) phenylhydroxamate complexes were synthesized as structural and spectroscopic models, and compared to functionalized TiO2 nanoparticles. In a combined experimental-theoretical study, we find that the predominant binding form is monodeprotonated, with evidence for the chelate mode.

A new class of complexes based on titanium(IV) bearing a bisanionic mer-tridentate N-heterocyclic carbene ligand were investigated for the copolymerization of cyclohexene oxide with CO2. Upon addition of [PPN]X' salts, all complexes were found to be active and highly selective toward the formation of poly(cyclohexene oxide-alt-carbon dioxide).

A highly diastereoselective tandem ring-enlargement and aldol condensation process involving multicomponent reactions of ethereal tricyclooxonium ylide intermediate with alcohols, mono- or dialdehydes in the presence of titanium(iv) isopropoxide is described to furnish alkoxyoctahydro-1,4-benzodioxocin-6(5H)-one ring systems.

β'-Chloro and β',γ'-unsaturated trichlorotitanium enolates, which were formed in situ by titanium(IV) chloride-mediated ring cleavage of 3,3-dialkylcyclobutanones and 3-[(trimethylsilyl)methyl]cyclobutanones, reacted with enones to give Michael adducts with keeping a labile β'-chloro or β',γ'-unsaturated group.
