Track quality affects passenger comfort and safety. To maintain the of track, track geometry component defects are inspected routinely. is using a car (TGC). Measured values stored in machine processed to evaluate quality. However, require more effort inspect. can be manually which time- workload-consuming or sensors installed at additional cost. This study presents an approach obtained by TGC ...

The article examines the superstructures of tramway tracks line No. 1 in Budapest (the capital Hungary). Since first appearance tramways, several technological advancements have been made to serve passenger needs as efficiently possible. Several types track superstructure systems can be differentiated, which are implemented differently each project. Furthermore, these different degradation time...

Checking railway sratus is critical to guarantee high operating safety, proper maintenance schedule, IOW maintenance and oprsrating costs. This (operation consists of the analysis of the rail profile and level as well as overall geometry and ondulation. Traditional detection systems are based on mechanical devices in contact with the track. Innovative approaches are based on laser scanning and ...

We develop an efficient algorithm to track point features supported by image patches undergoing affine deformations and changes in illumination. The algorithm is based on a combined model of geometry and photometry that is used to track features as well as to detect outliers in a hypothesis testing framework. The algorithm runs in real time on a personal computer, and is available to the public.

This paper deals with the threshold radius that warrants the use of single restraining rail for transit and railroads. Different railways use different threshold radius from 91m to 365m to provide restraining rail. These threshold figures are probably experience driven choices. The need for restraining rail may be related to a so-called derailment alarm coefficient of 1.2 sustained over 2m leng...

We discuss the geometry of timelike surfaces (two-dimensional submanifolds) in a Lorentzian manifold and its interpretation in terms of general relativity. A classification of such surfaces is presented which distinguishes four cases of special algebraic properties of the second fundamental form from the generic case. In the physical interpretation a timelike surface Σ can be viewed as the worl...

An approach for the modelling of complex 3D scenes like outdoor street views from a sequence of stereoscopic image pairs is presented. Starting with conventional stereoscopic correspondence analysis a 3D model scene with true 3D geometry is generated. Not only the scene geometry but also surface texture is stored within the model. 3D camera motion can be estimated directly from the image sequen...
