s the use of 3D seismic interpretation continues to become part of the main stream work process with the industry, visualization techniques also continue to evolve as software and hardware improves. In the past 10 years, volume rendering tools have been progressively adopted by the geophysical community as the emergence of high-end graphics workstations with 3D texture capabilities made real-ti...

The Cahn-Hilliard-Cook equation continues to be a useful model describing binary phase separation in systems such as alloys and other physical and chemical applications. We describe our investigation of this field equation and report on the various discretisation schemes we used to integrate the system in one-, twoand three-dimensions. We also discuss how the equation can be visualised effectiv...

The visualization of diffusion tensor fields remains a challenging topic. A representation based on volume rendering of a scalar field is presented. The method uses the tensor to correlate a noise field in the direction of greater diffusivity while preserving the high frequency components of the noise field in transversal diffusion directions.

An adaptive ltering and masking technique of three-dimensional data sets, e.g. spectral data from a radio interferometer, based on wavelets and morphological lters is presented. Applications to visualization (volume rendering) and moment analysis are discussed.

Radiation transfer is an important topic in several physical disciplines, probably most prominently in astrophysics. Computer scientists use radiation transfer, among other things, for the visualization of complex data sets with direct volume rendering. In this article, I point out the connection between physical radiation transfer and volume rendering, and I describe an implementation of direc...

This paper gives details of how a multi-temporal mosaics using ERS-2 SAR imagery has been generated for the UK and Ireland. This mosaic enables large scale land features and temporal change to be visualised and show potential for land use monitoring on a Europe wide scale.

Various time efficient procedures were developed allowing to calculate planar representations of the brain in MR and CT clearly conveying the whole surface topology. For the comparison of the provided techniques we present additional complex functionality for the transformation of cortical convolutions between different representations after extracting and marking them manually or automatically...

Direct volume rendering is a popular technique for scientifc visualization. The computation cost of direct volume rendering increases exponentially as the size of the volume dataset increases. Hence, efficient volume rendering has become an important issue. In this work, we study parallel volume rendering algorithms based on sparse data structures. In order to exploit object space coherence, we...
