Even when we look at stationary objects, involuntarily our eyes perform miniature movements and do not stand perfectly still. Such fixational eye movements (FEM) can be decomposed into at least two components: rapid microsaccades and slow (physiological) drift. Despite the general agreement that microsaccades have a central generating mechanism, the origin of drift is less clear. A direct appro...

This article presents the convergence analysis of fixed-point method (FPM) to model nonlinear magnetic characteristics a 2-D magnetostatic problem. In this study, FPM is used as iterative solver hybrid analytical modeling (HAM) technique for accurate computation field distribution. The benchmark consists stator with excitation windings, an air gap, and slotless mover. relative errors between tw...

many earthquakes occur in iran every year and some of these earthquakes cause loss of life and property. consequently earthquake is one of challenging topics not only in iran but also in other active tectonic regions in the world. investigating the mechanism of earthquake as a natural disaster is the first and important step. to study earthquakes, different information such as geometry and beha...

In this paper, it was firstly confirmed by FEM analysis of ground during earthquake that two kinds of techniques using both displacements of hollow and natural grounds in seismic deformation method were equivalent. Then, the authors were proposed a criterion for evaluating applicability of seismic deformation method, based on comparison of calculated results of both the above-mentioned techniqu...

1. Abstract In this paper, we implement the extended finite element method (X-FEM) combined with the level set method to solve structural shape and topology optimization problems. Numerical comparisons with the conventional finite element method in a fixed grid show that the X-FEM leads to more accurate results without increasing the mesh density and the degrees of freedom. Furthermore, the mes...

The pressure grouted helical anchor is an innovative soil-cement using the simultaneous drilling and grouting technique. This paper presents a field study numerical simulation to analyze load-displacement behavior of single anchored in marine soft soil deposit. Three full-scale anchors were tested under monotonic tension loading analysis effect Influence helix plates configuration on lifting ca...

We propose a computational method for time-varying spectra based on 3-D vocal tract shape using Finite Element Method (FEM). In order to obtain the time-varying spectra, we introduce auto-mesh algorithm and interpolation. We show the vocal tract transfer function (VTTF) with variable shape continuously.

This is a survey on the theory of adaptive finite element methods (AFEM), which are fundamental in modern computational science and engineering. We present a self-contained and up-to-date discussion of AFEM for linear second order elliptic partial differential equations (PDEs) and dimension d > 1, with emphasis on the differences and advantages of AFEM over standard FEM. The material is organiz...

— We consider a finite élément method for solving singularly perturbed second order elliptic problems in 2 D domains. We give a strategy for proving local L^-error estimâtes for a class of upwind-FEM and use this strategy to dérive such local estimâtes for a spécial finite élément method. Résumé. — On étudie une méthode d'éléments finis adaptée à la résolution de problèmes elliptiques du second...
