Natal teeth are an infrequent occurrence at birth. Often these teeth are extracted because they are very mobile and pose a risk of aspiration. This is a rare case in which a natal tooth was extracted by the pediatrician with his fingers. A root fragment remained and out of this developed a large pulp polyp. This relationship has not been previously reported.

A 14 year old Malay boy with an adenocarcinoma of the transverse colon is reported. A lesion was discovered early when he presented with an uncommon complication in the form of a bowel intussusception. Emergency segmental colonic resection was performed, followed later by an extended left hemicolectomy following histological confirmation of the disease. Benign adenomatous polyp is believed to b...

Gastric hyperplastic polyps are generally considered benign lesions, although rare cases of adenocarcinoma have been reported. Although, the underlying mechanism of carcinogenesis in gastric hyperplastic polyps is still uncertain, most malignant polyps are seen to originate from dysplastic epithelium rather than from hyperplastic epithelium. Herein, we report the case of a woman diagnosed with ...

Colonic lipomas with overlying adenomatous change are exceedingly rare with few reported cases.1, 2, 3 This is a case report of a 74 year old female who was found to have a polyp on the ileocaecal valve that was not amenable to endoscopic mucosal resection. The patient subsequently underwent a successful laparoscopic right hemicolectomy. The diagnosis of a submucosal lipoma with an overlying lo...

The adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene, whose mutations are responsible for familial adenomatous polyposis, is a major negative controller of the Wnt/beta-catenin pathway. To investigate the dose-dependent effects of APC protein in suppressing intestinal tumorigenesis, we constructed mutant mice carrying hypomorphic Apc alleles Apc(neoR) and Apc(neoF) whose expression levels were reduced to ...

Disturbances in DNA methylation are a characteristic of colorectal carcinogenesis. Folate-mediated one-carbon metabolism is essential for providing one-carbon groups for DNA methylation via DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs). Alcohol, a folate antagonist, could adversely affect one-carbon metabolism. In a case-control study of colorectal polyps, we evaluated three single nucleotide polymorphisms (-...
