Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) rupture represents a major cardiovascular risk, combining complex vascular mechanisms weakening the abdominal artery wall coupled with hemodynamic forces exerted on the arterial wall. At present, a reliable method to predict AAA rupture is not available. Recent studies have introduced fluid structure interaction (FSI) simulations using isotropic wall properties t...

The aim of the present work is to quantitatively assess the three-dimensional distributions of the displacements experienced during the cardiac cycle by the luminal boundary of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and to correlate them with the local bulk hemodynamics. Ten patients were acquired by means of time resolved computed tomography, and each patient-specific vascular morphology was reconstr...

The Brownian motion of a particle in a harmonic potential, which is simultaneously exposed either to a linear shear flow or to a plane Poiseuille flow is investigated. In the shear plane of both flows the probability distribution of the particle becomes anisotropic and the dynamics is changed in a characteristic manner compared to a trapped particle in a quiescent fluid. The particle distributi...

Using the the concept of cracking we explore the influence of density fluctuations and local anisotropy have on the stability of local and non-local anisotropic matter configurations in general relativity. This concept, conceived to describe the behaviour of a fluid distribution just after its departure from equilibrium, provides an alternative approach to consider the stability of selfgravitat...

We develop the Lifshitz theory of van der Waals forces in a wedge dielectric material. The non-planar geometry problem requires determining point-wise distribution stresses. findings are relevant to wide range phenomena from crack propagation contact line motion. First, stresses prove be anisotropic as opposed classical fluid mechanics treatment problem. Second, configuration is always unstable...

Abstract In the present paper, we will incorporate three very useful aspects of astrophysics, generalized polytropes, Karmarkar condition and complexity factor to study compact objects. For this purpose a charged anisotropic fluid distribution is used under static spherical symmetry. We develop framework for class I Lane–Emden equations non-isothermal isothermal regimes. Generalized polytropic ...

We briefly discuss the Hamiltonian formalism of Kantowski-Sachs space-times with vacuum, anisotropic fluid and two cross-streaming radiation field sources. For these models a cosmological time is introduced. New constraints are found in which the fluid momenta are separated from the rest of the variables. In consequence their Poisson brackets give an Abelian algebra.

How to dynamically tune an assembly of anisotropic colloidal particles adsorbed at fluid-fluid interfaces using dipolar capillary interactions is demonstrated. A previously discovered first-order phase transition is exploited and it is shown how to spontaneously turn off these dipolar capillary interactions by exceeding a critical field strength, providing unprecedented control of the bottom-up...

Seismic fluid identification plays an important role in reservoir exploration and development. Natural vertical fractures are common carbonate rocks, it is essential to consider fracture-induced anisotropy the of fractured reservoirs. We have developed a novel Bayesian elastic impedance variation with angle azimuth (EIVAZ) inversion approach for directly estimating fracture indicator (FFI), whi...

2014 We study the hydrodynamics of a fluid supporting an intense and anisotropic acoustic noise. We show that new hydrodynamic modes, with partly transverse polarisation, may exist in such a fluid provided that the intensity and anisotropy of the acoustic noise are sufficiently high.
