Averaged auditory evoked responses to 1000-Hz 20-msec tone bursts were obtained from normal-hearing adults under two different intersignal interval schedules: (1) a fixed-interval schedule with 2-sec intersignal intervals, and (2) a variable-interval schedule of intersignal intervals ranging randomly from 1.0 sec to 4.5 sec with a mean of 2 see. Peak-to-peak amplitudes (N1P~) as well as latenci...

In the framework of the discussion about gamma (approx. 40 Hz) oscillations as information carriers in the brain, we investigated the relationship between gamma responses in the EEG and intersensory association. Auditory evoked potentials (AEPs) and visual evoked potentials (VEPs) were compared with bisensory evoked potentials (BEPs; simultaneous auditory and visual stimulation) in 15 subjects....

Acoustically evoked potentials were recorded from unanesthetized rats in a series of experiments designed to study changes in sensory evoked potentials during conditioning. It is shown that when clicks a re established as conditional stimuli (CS) in conditioned emotional response (CER) situations , click-evoked potentials recorded from central auditory structures and from mesencephalic reticula...

UNLABELLED Long Latency Auditory Evoked Potentials (LLAEP) represents a number of electrical changes occurring in the central nervous system, resulting from stimulation of the auditory sensorial pathways. Many studies approach the use of these potentials controlling the artifact created by eye movement with the use of equipment with a large number of channels. However, what happens is very diff...

OBJECTIVE Auditory steady-state responses (ASSR) evoked by recurrent brief tones were assessed over a wide range of stimulus repetition rates apropos the traditionally measured obligatory, transient, auditory evoked potentials. Repetition rates of ≤ 10 Hz have received little attention in the context of the ASSR stimulus-response analysis approach, speculated to provide technical advantages/add...

Auditory object perception requires binding of elementary features of complex stimuli. Synchronization of high-frequency oscillation in neural networks has been proposed as an effective alternative to binding via hard-wired connections because binding in an oscillatory network can be dynamically adjusted to the ever-changing sensory environment. Previously, we demonstrated in young adults that ...

The effects of loudness on the latency of evoked potentials and on simple reaction time were compared. It was found that both reaction time and the evoked-potential latency increases with decreasing stimulus intensity. However, different slopes of the curves were found. This is explained in terms of the arousal effect of loud auditory stimuli.

The objective of this paper was to elucidate the relation between psychophysical lateralization and the neural generators of the corresponding auditory evoked potentials. Auditory brain stem responses to binaural click stimuli with different interaural time- and level differences were obtained in 12 subjects by means of multi-channel EEG recording. Data were modeled by equivalent current dipole...
