The design of earthquake-resistant buildings starts with defining the maximum lateral earthquake forces or their resultant. The amount of these forces depends on various factors, including coefficient of system behavior which depends on overstrength and its ductility. In this study, a method is presented for designing an earthquake-resistant system in which the distribution of lateral forces is...
Abstract This study aim to propose a moving average control chart explicit formula based on the Generalized Poisson distribution ( MA GP ) and compare performance of with that Shewhart C ). The run length ARL is used consider performance. results indicated superior for detecting small shifts. Practitioners will find this be accurate as well simple apply use.
In this paper, we study the dual long memory property of the Korean stock market. For this purpose, the ARFIMA–FIGARCH model is applied to two daily Korean stock price indices (KOSPI and KOSDAQ). Our empirical results indicate that long memory dynamics in the returns and volatility can be adequately estimated by the joint ARFIMA–FIGARCH model. We also found that the assumption of a skewed Stude...
PROSA tries to simulate the evolution of human relationships from simple acquaintance to friendship and partnership. Our target is to obtain a self– reconfiguring P2P system which possesses some of the desirable features of social communities. We show that PROSA naturally evolves into a small–world network, with an high clustering coefficient and a relly short average path length.
Abstract The large deviations of an infinite moving average process with exponentially light tails are very similar to those of an i.i.d. sequence as long as the coefficients decay fast enough. If they do not, the large deviations change dramatically. We study this phenomenon in the context of functional large, moderate and huge deviation principles.
BACKGROUND The assessment of population health has traditionally relied on the population's average health measured by mortality related indicators. Researchers have increasingly recognized the importance of including information on health inequality and health-related quality of life (HRQL) in the assessment of population health. The objective of this study is to assess the health of Americans...
