We present a novel approach to reversibly control the assembly of liposomes through an anchored multistimuli responsive DNA oligonucleotide decorated with an azobenzene moiety (AZO-ON1). We show that liposomes assembly can be simultaneously controlled by three external stimuli: light, Mg(2+), and temperature. (i) Light alters the interaction of AZO-ON1 with liposomes, which influences DNA coati...
Knowledge about tautomer forms of a structure is important since, e.g., a property prediction for a molecule can yield to different results which depend on the individual tautomer. Tautomers are isomers that can be transformed to each other through chemical equilibrium reactions. In this paper the first exact Branch-and-Bound (B&B) algorithm to calculate tautomer structures is proposed. The alg...
A potential end-point in the miniaturization of electronic devices lies in the field of molecular electronics, where molecules perform the function of single components. To date, hydrogen tautomerism in unimolecular switches has been restricted to the central macrocycle of porphyrin-type molecules. The present work reveals how H-tautomerism is the mechanism for switching in substituted quinone ...
Hydrazone and disulfide exchange have been combined in a single system, but can be addressed independently: by adjusting the pH of the solution from acidic to mildly basic it is possible to switch from exclusively hydrazone exchange to exclusively disulfide exchange, while at intermediate pH both reactions occur simultaneously.
Using a novel dynamic covalent approach relying on reversible hydrazone formation, a purely organic 3-dimensional prismatic cage was developed in water at elevated temperatures. By lowering the temperature, the hydrazone bond becomes kinetically inert. This self-assembled cage acts as an effective receptor for donor-acceptor pairs, whose interactions are weak in the absence of the cage.
Azo-functionalized MOPs (Azo-MOPs) were synthesized via oxidative polymerization of aromatic amines catalyzed by t-BuOCl/NaI (25 °C, 1 h, yield: >95%), which displayed an excellent coordinating ability with a Ru complex. The resulting Ru-coordinated Azo-MOPs displayed high CO2 capacity and high performances for catalyzing the methylation of amines with CO2 under low pressure (0.5 MPa).
Two vanillin-hydrazone compounds as the colorimetric amine detection during chicken meat spoilage are described. hydrazone (1 and 2) have been synthesized from condensation reaction of vanillin with phenylhydrazine 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine. Their properties for recognition were determined by naked eye UV-vis spectra. indicators investigated toward primary amine: butylamine (BA); secondary dim...
BACKGROUND The plant pathogenic fungus (such as Gibberella zeae, Fusarium oxysporum and Cytospora mandshurica) causes devastating disease in agriculture. The pathogenic fungus is responsible for billions of dollars in economic losses worldwide each year. In order to discover new fungicidal molecule with good fungicidal activity against G. zeae, F. oxysporum, and C. mandshurica, we sought to com...
Tautomerism in organic chemistry has been extensively studied in condensed phase by spectrometric methods, mainly by IR and NMR techniques. Mass spectrometry studies start 40 years ago but just recently it has been recognized the importance of the mass spectral data for the study of tautomerism in the gas phase. Mass spectrometry can provide valuable information in regard to tautomeric equilibr...
BACKGROUND Ralstonia solanacearum, one of the most important bacterial diseases on plants, is a devastating, soil-borne plant pathogen with a global distribution and an unusually wide host range. In order to discover new bioactive molecules and pesticides acting on tobacco bacterial wilt, we sought to combine the active structure of hydrazone and pyridine together to design and synthesize a ser...
