Fibroblasts, which are widely distributed and play a key part in tissue fibrosis, are phenotypically and functionally heterogeneous. Recent studies reported that bone marrow can be a source of tissue fibroblast. In the study reported here, we investigated in vivo characterization of bone marrow-derived fibroblasts recruited into various fibrotic lesions. Mice were engrafted with bone marrow iso...

OBJECTIVE Using bone marrow transplantation, we have previously demonstrated the critical role that hematopoietic CCR2 plays in early atherogenesis. Reconstitution of irradiated apolipoprotein (apo) E3-Leiden mice with CCR2-deficient bone marrow progenitor cells resulted in 86% reduction on overall atherosclerotic lesion development. However, no data on CCR2 in the cause of established atherosc...

eighteen patients, twelve men and six women, with aplastic anemia underwent allogenic bone marrow transplantation (bmt) from hla-matched siblings during the period of 1990 to 1996. the conditioning regimen was cyclophosphamide with or without busulfan, depending on the cause of aplasia. antilymphocyte globulin (alg) and cyclosporine were used for rejection and acute gvhd prophylaxis, respective...

Bone involvement has been reported in 1-13% of patients with sarcoidosis. Both 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose ((18)F-FDG) Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) and conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are sensitive in detecting sarcoidosis bone lesions, but are not always reliable in differentiating sarcoidosis bone lesions from metastatic disease, thus often requiring bone...

Benign metastasizing leiomyoma (BML) is a rare disease, which usually occurs in women with a history of a prior hysterectomy or myomectomy for benign uterine leiomyoma, and has the potential to metastasize to distant sites, such as the lung, lymph nodes, muscular tissue, heart, or retroperitoneum. These lesions are slow-growing, asymptomatic, and usually found incidentally. The prognosis of BML...

Abstract Background Multiple myeloma (MM) is the second most common hematological malignancy after non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Recently, use of 18F-FDG PET/CT has become more and diffused thanks to its ability combine functional morphological information for diagnosis, prognosis assessment, evaluation treatment response. This study aims describe semiquantitative parameters obtained from in a populati...

We present the case of a 40-year-old male with multiple myeloma for whom bone marrow scintigraphy was utilized to help differentiate between active bony myelomatous disease versus treated lesions with compensatory marrow uptake. This case demonstrates technetium (Tc-99m) sulfur colloid imaging as an inexpensive technique to quickly distinguish between active focal bone disease and reactive marrow.

only speculate. The second point to which Adams et al. disagree is the prognostic value of PET/ CT-ascertained bone marrow involvement in DLBCL (focal PET/CT lesions), which, as clearly stated in our paper, remains ambiguous. Still Adams et al. feel we discussed the part inappropriately. Khan et al. reported that the outcome of patients with focal PET/ CT lesions in the bone marrow was similar ...
