We propose a global high-gain scaling based observer/controller for systems in the uncertain generalized output-feedback canonical form. Time-varying nonlinear parametric uncertainty is allowed to occur coupled with unmeasured states in the system dynamics. This represents a significant generalization from existing results which allow unknown parameters only in outputdependent terms. This restr...

Correct duplication of DNA sequence and its organization into chromatin is central to genome function and stability. However, it remains unclear how cells coordinate DNA synthesis with provision of new histones for chromatin assembly to ensure chromosomal stability. In this paper, we show that replication fork speed is dependent on new histone supply and efficient nucleosome assembly. Inhibitio...

Roy's largest root is a common test statistic in multivariate analysis, statistical signal processing and allied fields. Despite its ubiquity, provision of accurate and tractable approximations to its distribution under the alternative has been a longstanding open problem. Assuming Gaussian observations and a rank-one alternative, or concentrated noncentrality, we derive simple yet accurate app...

Carcinogenesis is a multistep process characterized by the gradual accumulation of genetic changes that ultimately lead to cancer. These genetic mutations can impart limitless replicative potential to the cancer cells making them immortal. Telomeres are repeat nucleotide sequence TTAGGG that are present at the end of chromosomes. Its functions are to protect the chromosomal ends and to ensur...

A review is made of recent efforts to define linear connections and their corresponding curvature within the context of noncommutative geometry. As an application it is suggested that it is possible to identify the gravitational field as a phenomenological manifestation of space-time commutation relations and to thereby clarify its role as an ultraviolet regularizer.

We introduce an extension of the derivatives of rational expressions to expressions denoting formal power series over partially commuting variables. The expressions are purely noncommutative, however they denote partially commuting power series. The derivations (which are so-called φ-derivations) are shown to satisfy the commutation relations. Our main result states that for every so-called rig...
