STUDY DESIGN This study was a retrospective, multicenter cohort study. OBJECTIVES Rare complications of cervical spine surgery are inherently difficult to investigate. Pseudomeningocoele (PMC), an abnormal collection of cerebrospinal fluid that communicates with the subarachnoid space, is one such complication. In order to evaluate and better understand the incidence, presentation, treatment,...

background & objectives: tumor diathesis (td) is defined as granular proteinaceous precipitates on slide surface of cytologic smears. it is found in the background of smears of invasive carcinoma but not in all cases. the aim of present study was to determine the prevalence of td in cervicovaginal smears from patients with uterine cervix carcinoma. methods: cytological smears and histologi...

Incidental durotomy (ID) is a common intraoperative complication of spine surgery. It can lead to persistent cerebrospinal fluid leakage, which may cause serious complications, including severe headache, pseudomeningocele formation, nerve root entrapment, and intracranial hemorrhage. As a result, it contributes to higher healthcare costs and poor patient outcomes. The purpose of this study was ...

Dural sealants are an adjunct to obtain watertight closure after intradural procedures. This study aims to characterize the appearance on MR imaging of 3 commonly employed dural sealants: fibrin glue, PEGH, and BSAG. To this end, patients who underwent spinal intradural procedures that included the use of dural sealant during closure were identified retrospectively. Post-operative data on 15 pa...

abstract background: cervical cancer is the most common female genital tract malignancy and is the major cause of death from gynecologic cancer worldwide. the majority of cervical cancers develop through a series of gradual, precancerous lesions. screening asymptomatic women with regular pap smears allows diagnosis of the readily treatable preinvasive phase. we performed this study to determine...

A pseudomeningocoele is an extradural collection of cerebrospinal fluid which results from a dural or arachnoid tear. The fluid is not contained within a protrusion of the meninges, which is typical for a real meningocoele. Although most pseudomeningocoeles probably go unrecognised, due to lack of symptoms, surgeons should maintain an index of suspicion when reviewing postoperative patients. Sy...

Most of the previously reported lumbosacral nerve root avulsions presented with pseudomeningoceles at the time of delayed initial imaging. We report a case of traumatic lumbosacral nerve root injury associated with an isolated femur fracture and demonstrate the evolution of pseudomeningoceles following nerve root avulsions and edema in the perineural fat identified on the initial MR imaging.
