Patients with hereditary hemostatic disorders, characterized by a tendency to bleeding or thrombosis, constitute a serious challenge in the dental practice. Advances in the medical diagnosis of hemostatic disorders have exposed dental professionals to new patients not amenable to the application of the management protocols associated with other, more well-known, disorders. It is the aim of this...

Patients with cardiovascular disease have an array of haemostasis disorders that predispose to the development of thrombotic and embolic disease states. These patients are often maintained on anti-thrombotic medication to prevent adverse cardiovascular events. Patients undergoing cardiac surgery also have haemostatic disorders that include their intrinsic disease state, adjunctive medication, a...

Initiation of blood coagulation by tissue factor (TF) is a robust, highly regulated process. Both the spatial distribution of TF and the geometry of the vasculature may play important roles in regulating coagulation. As this review describes, microfluidic systems provide a unique opportunity for investigating the spatiotemporal dynamics of blood coagulation in vitro. Microfluidic systems with s...

were found to have evidence of a generalized hemostatic disorder. These patients could be divided into three groups. The first group consisted of three patients with increased fibrinogen catabolism without clinical or laboratory evidence of intravascular coagulation. The second group of five patients had laboratory evidence of intravascular coagulation without clinically evident bleeding or thr...

Diagnosis and treatment of coagulation disorders associated with many veterinary diseases have been well studied, but the degree to which disorders of fibrinolysis may contribute to bleeding in veterinary patients is unknown. Recent data in the human and experimental literature suggests that the fibrinolytic pathway may be a useful target in patients with bleeding disorders and thrombotic disease.

Patients with disorders of coagulation and bleeding can be among the most challenging surgical patients to manage. Intraoperative or postoperative bleeding can contribute to life-threatening complications in even the most "benign" surgical procedures. An adequate number and function of platelets play a critical role in the coagulation pathway. A thorough understanding of platelet physiology and...

INTRODUCTION Male circumcision practice is an invasive procedure that is using worldwide. It makes challenges to haemostatic system and its possible haemorrhagic side effects are more serious in bleeding individuals than normal subjects. In most cases, it can be complete controlled using infusion of appropriate amount of coagulation factors before and post circumcision. AIM We aim to document...
