Brain-computer interface (BCI) systems must process neural signals with consistent timing in order to support adequate system performance. Thus, it is important to have the capability to determine whether a particular BCI configuration (i.e., hardware and software) provides adequate timing performance for a particular experiment. This report presents a method of measuring and quantifying differ...

The abstract presents a tactile pinpressure stimulus-based brain-computer interface (BCI) paradigm. The 3x3 pressure pin matrix stimulus patterns are presented to the users in an oddball paradigm allowing for brainwave “aharesponses” generation to attended targets. Our research hypothesis is confirmed with the results with five users performing online BCI experiments.

This paper presented the technique of robot control by event-related potentials (ERPs) of brain waves. Based on the proposed technique, severe physical disabilities can free browse outside world. A specific component of ERPs, N2P3, was found and used to control the movement of robot and the view of camera on the designed brain-computer interface (BCI). Users only required watching the stimuli o...

This study reviews the originality and development of the Brain Computer Interface (BCI) system and focus on the BCI system design based on Blind Source Separation (BSS) techniques. The study also provides the recent trends and discusses some of a new ideas for BSS techniques in BCI architecture, articles which discussing the BCI system development were analysed, types of the BCI systems and th...

An able-bodied subject used walking motor imagery to accurately operate a non-invasive brain-computer interface (BCI) controlled robotic gait orthosis. This finding represents the first successful demonstration of a BCI-controlled lower extremity prosthesis for independent ambulation, with significant implications for restoring ambulation to individuals with spinal cord injury paraplegia.

Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) uses brain signals in order to provide a new method for communication between human and outside world. Feature extraction, selection and classification are among the main matters of concerns in signal processing stage of BCI. In this article, we present our findings about the most effective features and classifiers in some brain tasks. Six different groups of clas...

Recently, a new modality of the human-computer interface has been more and more emerging; The Brain-Computer Interface (BCI). The BCI is a communication channel, which enables us to send commands to external devices by using human brain activities (Wolpaw et al., 2002). As one of the remarkable achievements, we can see the report on invasive Brain-Machine Interface (BMI) (Hochberg et al., 2006)...
