Following the program for finite translation planes to construct such planes from collineation groups in the translation complement a search for nonMiquelian Laguerre planes of odd order is initiated. In this note finite Laguerre planes of order p2 , P a prime, are investigated. If such a Laguerre plane .c admits a circle-transitive elation group and an automorphism group of order p2 in the ela...
We investigate collineation groups of a finite projective plane of odd order fixing an oval and having two orbits on it, one of which is assumed to be primitive. The situation in which there exists a fixed triangle off the oval is considered in detail. Our main result is the following. Theorem. Let p be a finite projective plane of odd order n containing an oval O: If a collineation group G of ...
Let F be a 2-transitive group of finite degree v such that the stabilizer T xy of the distinct points x and y fixes precisely k points, where 2 < k < v. The only known non-solvable groups with this property are of the following types: (i) a 2-transitive collineation group of PG(d, 2) for some d; (ii) a 2-transitive collineation group of AG(d, k) for some d; and (iii) PFL(2, 8) in its representa...
We consider point–line geometries having three points on every line, having three lines through every point (bislim geometries), and containing triangles. We classify such geometries under the hypothesis of the existence of a collineation group acting transitively on the point set. In the first part of this work, we introduce the local structure at a point and consider some cases where this loc...
Let G be a collineation group of a finite projective plane π of odd order fixing an oval Ω . We investigate the case in which G has even order, has two orbits Ω0 and Ω1 on Ω , and the action of G on Ω0 is primitive. We show that if G is irreducible, then π has a G-invariant desarguesian subplane π0 and Ω0 is a conic of π0. © 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
We describe a class of groups with the property that the finite ones among them are precisely the complex reflection groups of rank two. This situation is reminiscent of Coxeter groups, among which the finite ones are precisely the real reflection groups. We also study braid relations between complex reflections and indicate connections to an axiomatic study of root systems and to the Shephard-...
introduction: complete knowledge of root canal curvature is a critical factor in successful dental treatment .the aim of this study was to investigate the direction, radius and degree of curvature of maxillary anterior teeth and the relation between radius and degree of curvature in babol city. methods &materials;: this study was performed on 242 anterior teeth radiographs were taken by periapi...
