Substituted acetanilides reacted with aromatic acids in the presence of [{RuCl2(p-cymene)}2], AgSbF6 and (NH4)2S2O8 in ClCH2CH2Cl at 100 °C for 24 h yielding ortho-benzoxylated acetanilides in good to excellent yields in a highly regioselective manner via C-H bond activation.
[Ru(p-cymene)Cl2]2-catalyzed 1,4-addition reactions between arylboronic acids and butyl acrylate and acrylamide in the presence of phenols were investigated, good to excellent yields were obtained. The addition of phenols remarkably promoted the protonolysis and inhibited the β-H elimination of the 1,4-addition intermediates, and also efficiently suppressed the protonolysis of arylboronic acids.
Recyclable ( -p-cymene)-ruthenium(II) 2-naphthylazo-p-methylphenolate catalyst of formulation [RuCl( -pcymene)(L)] (where L = mono anionic 2-naphthylazo-p-methylphenolate ligand) is shown to be an efficient catalyst for transfer hydrogenation of a wide range of alkyl and aryl ketones in the presence of 2-propanol and KOH.
The waterdistilled essential oil from dried aerial parts of one of the Algerian thymes, Thymus fontanesii Boiss. & Reut. grown in Setif province, Algeria, was analyzed by GC/MS. Fifteen components were characterized representing 99.4% of the total components detected. The major components of the oil were thymol (67.8%), gamma-terpinene (15.9%) and p-cymene (13.0%).
Thymus hyemalis L. and Spanish Thymus vulgaris L. shrubs are characterized by a large chemical intraspecific variability among he plants. This fact makes it difficult to detect real changes occurring in their essential oil composition during the vegetative cycle. ased on this, the clones of T. hyemalis and Spanish T. vulgaris were used in this present work to monitor seasonal variations in the ...
