A plague occurred in Iran in 1...

BACKGROUND Outbreak detection algorithms play an important role in effective automated surveillance. Although many algorithms have been designed to improve the performance of outbreak detection, few published studies have examined how epidemic features of infectious disease impact on the detection performance of algorithms. This study compared the performance of three outbreak detection algorit...

In this paper, we proposed the historical data of dengue disease in Thailand. The reported case and death due to dengue disease are presented by total number, region, month, age, and occupation. The mathematical model is the key to analyze dengue disease which can investigate the reproductive number in order to control the outbreak. At the current, the best way to control the outbreak is contro...

Cellular Automata (CAs) are often used to simulate complex systems. One such application of a CA is to simulate the spread of disease through a susceptible population. This paper describes EpiViz, a CA-based epidemic simulator which uses a variety of input parameters, such as probability of infection, infectious period, vaccination rate, mode of infection, and probability of recovery to influen...

Recent infectious disease epidemics illustrate how health systems failures anywhere can create disease vulnerabilities everywhere. We must therefore prioritize investments in health care infrastructure in outbreak-prone regions of the world. We describe how "rooted" research collaborations can establish capacity for pathogen surveillance and facilitate rapid outbreak responses.
