During October 2010-July 2011, 1.0% of pandemic (H1N1) 2009 viruses in the United States were oseltamivir resistant, compared with 0.5% during the 2009-10 influenza season. Of resistant viruses from 2010-11 and 2009-10, 26% and 89%, respectively, were from persons exposed to oseltamivir before specimen collection. Findings suggest limited community transmission of oseltamivir-resistant virus.
A 73-year-old previously healthy male presented with acute cerebral ischemia. He remembered being wounded in 1944 during an explosion, although no cerebral injury had been suspected at that time. MRI should be performed. X-rays of the skull showed multiple metal fragments ( fig. 1 ). CT demonstrated grenade splinters within the right frontal lobe and in the frontal midline ( fig. 2 ). Received:...
Flutracking is a national online community influenza-like illness (ILI) surveillance system that monitors weekly ILI activity and field vaccine effectiveness (FVE). This article reports on the 2011 and 2012 findings from Flutracking. There was a 22% increase in participants to 16,046 who completed at least one survey in 2012, compared with 2011 (13,101). By October 2012 (the end of the 2012 sea...

Although sex steroids play an important role in many physiological processes including reproduction in vertebrates, there is a few information about the effects of these hormones in coral-reef fish reproduction. Determination of fluctuation of these hormones would be very useful in reproductive studies. In this study, 120 specimens Abudefduf vaigiensis including 47 females and 34 males were cap...

Rotation distance between rooted binary trees measures the number of simple operations it takes to transform one tree into another. There are no known polynomial-time algorithms for computing rotation distance. In this short note, we give an efficient, linear-time approximation algorithm, which estimates the rotation distance, within a provable factor of 2, between ordered rooted binary trees. ...
