In the present paper we will deal with numerical solution of a generalized semicoercive contact problem in linear elasticity, for the case that several bodies of arbitrary shapes are in mutual contacts and are loaded by external forces, by using the non-overlapping domain decomposition and finite elements method. The numerical example will be presented.
The paper proposes a scheme by combining the Runge-Kutta discontinuous Galerkin method with a δ-mapping algorithm for solving hyperbolic conservation laws with discontinuous fluxes. This hybrid scheme is particularly applied to nonlinear elasticity in heterogeneous media and multi-class traffic flow with inhomogeneous road conditions. Numerical examples indicate the scheme’s efficiency in resol...
For thin plate problems, using the Kirchoff hypothesis, the three dimensional elasticity equations are reduced to a fourth order PDE for the vertical displacement. Conventional FEM has difficulties with this because the basis functions are required to have continuous partial derivatives. Meshfree methods have the advantage of constructing smooth approximation functions, but have difficulties in...
When using domain decomposition methods without overlapping, one can focus on displacements, such as primal approaches, [11] . . . , or on efforts, such as dual approaches, [6]. Since the latin approach used herein allows interfaces to play a major role, both displacements and efforts are the unknowns; it is a “mixed” approach. A general drawback with domain decomposition methods is the decreas...
A non-overlapping domain decomposition method for elasticity equations based on an optimal control formulation is presented. The existence of a solution is proved and the convergence of a subsequence of the approximate solutions to a solution of the continuous problem is shown. The implementation based on lagrangian method is discussed. Finally, numerical results showing the efficiency of our a...
This paper presents a exible approach to domain decomposition preconditioning for problems expressed in terms of local stiiness matrices of subdomains. Evaluation of the preconditioner requires fully parallelizable local computations and the solution of a global auxiliary problem with few variables per subdomain. Convergence factors can be bounded using properties of the local stiiness matrices...
In this work, we develop a meshfree method based on fundamental solutions basis functions for a transmission problem in linear elasticity. The problem here addressed, consists in computing the displacement field of an elastic object, which has piecewise constant Lamé coefficients, from a given displacement field on the boundary. The Lamé coefficients are assumed to be constant in non overlaping...
Partial differential equations arise in formulations of problems involving functions of several variables such as the propagation of sound or heat, electrostatics, electrodynamics, fluid flow, and elasticity, etc. The present paper deals with a general introduction and classification of partial differential equations and the numerical methods available in the literature for the solution of part...
Cloud computing is a new model for the provisioning of dynamically elastic and often virtualized resources at the levels of infrastructures, platforms and software. Cloud platforms are being increasingly used for the deployment and execution of service-based business processes (SBPs). Nevertheless, the provisioning of elastic infrastructures and/or platforms is not sufficient to provide users w...
