We developed a computational model for investigating the cause for the high ionic current through a single-walled carbon nanotube nanofluidic device by considering the electrical double layer at a solid-liquid interface. With this model, we were able to examine the influence of the Gouy-Chapman-Stern electrical double layer and the solution concentration on the ionic conductance in the device. ...

A systematic experimental study of the electrical conductance of single alkanedithiol molecules (HS-(CH(2))(N)-SH) between gold contacts in air for N = 3-12 is presented. For all of these molecules, three different fundamental conductance groups (low, medium and high conductance) were observed. For long molecules (N > 7) the conductance decays exponentially with molecular length for all three c...

The function of many cells and organs in the body is absolutely dependent on their ability to generate an electrical signal termed an action potential. The action potential represents a temporal sequence of changes in the electrical potential across a local domain of a cell’s plasma membrane, and results from a carefully coordinated sequence of changes in membrane conductance for sodium and pot...

We used the patch clamp technique in situ to test the hypothesis that slow oscillations in metabolism mediate slow electrical oscillations in mouse pancreatic islets by causing oscillations in KATP channel activity. Total conductance was measured over the course of slow bursting oscillations in surface β-cells of islets exposed to 11.1 mM glucose by either switching from current clamp to voltag...

We studied the spin state dependence of the electrical conductivity of the spin crossover compound [Fe(Htrz)(2)(trz)](BF(4)) (Htrz = 1H-1,2,4-triazole) by means of dc electrical measurements. The low spin state is characterized by higher conductance and lower thermal activation energy of the conductivity, when compared to the high spin state.

Abstract A mathematical model is developed to determine the steady-state electric current flow through in non-homogeneous isotropic conductor whose shape has a three-dimensional hollow body. The equations of Maxwell's theory solid body are used formulate corresponding boundary value problem. determination steady motion charges based on concept electrical conductance. derivation upper and lower ...

The effects of intercellular coupling conductance on the activity of two electrically coupled isolated rabbit sinoatrial nodal cells were investigated. A computer-controlled version of the "coupling clamp" technique was used in which isolated sinoatrial nodal cells, not physically in contact with each other, were electrically coupled at various values of ohmic coupling conductance, mimicking th...

Low-frequency skin conductance is used within several clinical applications and is mainly sensitive to sweating and the moisture content of the stratum corneum, but also how electrodes introduce changes in the electrical properties. Four electrode gels were investigated with regard to sorption characteristics and electrical properties. Skin conductance time series were collected from 18 test su...
