The quantum properties of charged black holes (BHs) found by McGuigan, Nappi and Yost are studied in 2D dilaton-Maxwell gravity (spontaneously compactificated from heterotic string) with N dilaton coupled scalars. Working in large N approach we discuss the presence of stable (evaporating) and unstable (anti-evaporating) modes in the spectrum of quantumcorrected BH. It is proved that charged 2D ...

A performance analysis on a vapour compression refrigeration system with various refrigerants mixture of R152a, RE170, R600a, and R290 were done for various mixture ratios and their results were compared with R134a as possible alternative replacement. The results showed that all of the alternative refrigerants investigated in the analysis except R431A, [R 152a (29%), R290 (71%)] have a slightly...

The present work deals with thermodynamic analysis of cascade refrigeration system using ozone friendly refrigerants pair R507A and R23. R507A is azeotropic mixture composed of HFC refrigerants R125/R143a (50%/50% wt.). R23 is a single component HFC refrigerant used as replacement to CFC refrigerant R13 in low temperature applications. These refrigerants have zero ozone depletion potential and ...

The solubility of CdF2 in the mixed solvent (water(1)+ethanol(2)) with mass fraction, W1 = 0.9,was determined by using solvent evaporating method in the presence of various concentrations(0.100, 0.200, 0.300, 0.400, 0.500, 0.600, 0.800 and 1.500 mo1.1)) of NaCI at 25°C. The values ofsolubility and solubility product constant of CdF2 in the mixed solvent were evaluated at zero ionicstrength upon...

For an effective treatment of the evaporation process of a large black hole the problem concerning the role played by the fluctuations of the (vacuum) stress tensor close to the horizon is addressed. We present arguments which establish a principal relationship between the outwards fluctuations of the stress tensor close to the horizon and quantities describing the onset of the evaporation proc...

Mesoscopic patterns have been observed to form in thin polymer films undergoing a fast dip-coating process. Though several mechanisms for creating of mesoscopic patterns have been proposed, the mechanism of the evaporation-induced mesoscopic self-organization is not yet fully understood. The paper aims to explain this phenomenon by studying the stability of a thin evaporating film. The analysis...

The dynamics of evaporation of wetting droplets is investigated experimentally in an extended range of drop sizes to provide trends relevant for a theoretical analysis. A model is proposed, which generalizes Tanner's law in the presence of evaporation. A qualitative agreement is obtained, which represents a first step toward the solution of a very old, complex problem.

We present a mechanism of high-temperature sublimation of carbon nanotubes that does not destroy their ordered makeup even upon significant loss of mass. The atoms depart to the gas phase from the pentagon-heptagon dislocation cores, while the bond disruption is immediately repaired, and the 5|7 seamlessly propagate through the lattice. This explains a broad class of unsettled phenomena when at...

When placed on rough hydrophobic surfaces, water droplets of diameter larger than a few millimeters can easily form pearls, as they are in the Cassie-Baxter state with air pockets trapped underneath the droplet. Intriguingly, a natural evaporating process can drive such a Fakir drop into a completely wetting (Wenzel) state. Our microscopic observations with simultaneous side and bottom views of...

An experimental methodology was developed to improve the energy design of paddle dryers for sewage sludges. A laboratory batch dryer with a vertical agitator has been especially designed and instrumented to determine the heat flux densities. To determine the drying kinetic and the evaporating flow rates, the specific heat and the total heat of desorption of the sludge were measured using calori...
