This study analyzes the air–water flow properties in overflow nappe jets. Data were measured several cross-sections of rectangular free-falling jets downstream a sharp-crested weir, with maximum fall distance 2.0 m. The obtained using conductivity phase-detection probe. Furthermore, back-flushing Pitot-Prandtl probe was used order to obtain velocity profiles. Five specific flows rates analyzed,...

Road traffic accidents are the leading cause of death in international travelers. With the growth of international travel, the number of visitors who rent a vehicle upon arrival at their destination by air or by sea is expected to increase. Jet lag is a well-recognized maladaptation to international travel across multiple time zones. Little is known about the possible influence of jet lag sympt...

in this research, the frequency of the jet streams associated with extreme and pervasive precipitation has been analyzed using environmental to circulation approach. based on the 99th percentile index, 109 days of the extreme and pervasive precipitation was selected from the irimo data base ( including 33 synoptic, climatic and rain gage stations during 15992 days from farvardin, 1st, 1340 to d...

We propose a solution for the long standing puzzle of a too steeply falling fragmentation function for a quark fragmenting into a pion, calculated by Berger [1] in the Born approximation. Contrary to the simple anticipation that gluon resummation worsens the problem, we find good agreement with data. Higher quark Fock states slow down the quark, an effect which we call jet lag. It can be also e...

numerous investigations have been devoted towards understanding the hydrodynamics of gas jets in fluidized beds. however, most of them address the problem from  macroscopic point of view, which does not reveal the true behavior in the jet region at the single particle level. the present work aims to understand the jet behavior from a more fundamental level, i.e. the individual particle level. a...

A suspension confined between two close parallel plates is studied in the Stokesian regime. The use of boundary integral equations and the lubrication approximation allows to compute the hydrodynamic forces acting on the particles. The forces are long ranged and depend on the orientation of the relative position and velocity of particles. This tensorial character predicts an ‘‘antidrag’’ that i...

A new model of blue jets as a lightning-related phenomenon is proposed. A blue jet consists of the bi-leader, whose top part is seen on photos as a ‘‘trunk of a tree’’, and is capped at the topside of the leader by its streamer zone. The latter is shown as tall and narrow branches of ‘‘the tree’’. It is shown that the time independent fractal blue jet model does not provide an adequate descript...

Computer animations often lack the subtle environmental changes that should occur due to the actions of the characters. Squealing car tires usually leave no skid marks, airplanes rarely leave jet trails in the sky, and most runners leave no footprints. In this paper, we describe a simulation model of ground surfaces that can be deformed by the impact of rigid body models of animated characters....

We report on the detection by means of Raman spectroscopy amorphous beryllium deuteride, BeD 2 , in magnetron sputtered deposits synthesized two different laboratories and containing about 20 at.% deuterium. In contrast, this signature has not been found for JET limiter samples studied coming from inner, outer or upper limiters, even when a deposition zone limiters. give way to disentangle that...

A plane subsonic jet was subjected to periodic oscillations in the near nozzle region by a twin vane system. During excitation, the jet was found to spread significantly and entrain mass much more than its steady counterpart. Time averaged static pressure measured in the flow field with a disc probe exhibited prominent well defined suction regions different from that of a steady jet.
