membrane distillation has the potential to concentrate solutions to their saturation level, thus offering the possibility to recover valuable salts from the solutions. the process performance and stability, however, is strongly dependent upon the features of membranes applied. in addition, several other parameters, membrane thickness and thermal conductivity significantly affect the process per...

A novel type of activated carbon fiber filter was developed for indoor air purification. The is equipped with electrodes thermo-electrical regeneration at the point saturation. are arranged in such a way that forms pleated structure an electrode tip each pleat. This allows uniform temperature distribution on surface during process and reduces overall pressure drop across filter. latter validate...

Fiber loss is a fundamental limitation in realizing long haul point to point fiber optical communication links and optical network. One of the advance technology in the recent year is the advent of ERBIUM DOPED FIBER AMPLIFIER. It is essential element in DWDM .In this paper gain and performance analysis of EDFA has been studied.

We demonstrate silicon-based traveling-wave photodetector arrays (Si-TWPDAs) with parallel optical feeding by integrating multiple Germanium photodetectors. Such Si-TWPDAs feature the merit of high optical saturation power with remaining the large operation bandwidth. The impedance-matched traveling-wave electrode design takes into account the individual Ge photodetector loading effect. Optical...

We report on a narrowband 5 W cw fiber laser incorporating a point-by-point fiber Bragg grating inscribed into the core of a Yb(3+)-doped double-clad fiber. The laser featured excellent long-term wavelength and power stability (0.3%), as well as a very narrow (15 pm) linewidth, when passive temperature stabilization of the grating was implemented.

the simultaneous flow of oil and water in porous media is described by relative permeability curves, mainly derived from laboratory experiments. relative permeability is of paramount importance in predicting reservoir production performance and drive mechanisms and its value depends largely on the volume fraction of fluids present in the test samples. nowadays x-ray scanners are one of the most...

Ca2+ buffer saturation was proposed as a mechanism of paired pulse facilitation (PPF). However, whether it operates under native conditions remained unclear. Here we show that saturation of the endogenous fast Ca2+ buffer calbindin-D28k (CB) plays a major role in PPF at CB-containing synapses. Paired recordings from synaptically connected interneurons and pyramidal neurons in the mouse neocorte...

We present a novel approach for joint clustering and point-by-point mapping of white matter fiber pathways. Knowledge of the point correspondence along the fiber pathways is not only necessary for accurate clustering of the trajectories into fiber bundles, but also crucial for any tract-oriented quantitative analysis. We employ an expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm to cluster the trajector...
