We consider minimization of a quadratic objective function subject to a sign-indefinite quadratic equality constraint. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions to the constrained minimization problem. These conditions involve a generalized eigenvalue of the matrix pencil consisting of a symmetric positivesemidefinite matrix and a symmetric indefinite matrix. ...

A frequency-designed fractional delay FIR structure, which is suitable for software radio applications, is presented. The design method is based on frequency optimization of a combination of modified Farrow and mutirate structures. As a result the optimization frequency range is made only in half of desired total bandwidth. According to the obtained results the proposed fractional delay structu...

Conic quadratic optimization is the problem of minimizing a linear function subject to the intersection of an affine set and the product of quadratic cones. The problem is a convex optimization problem and has numerous applications in engineering, economics, and other areas of science. Indeed, linear and convex quadratic optimization is a special case. Conic quadratic optimization problems can ...

We describe strong convex valid inequalities for conic quadratic mixed 0-1 optimization. The inequalities exploit the submodularity of the binary restrictions and are based on the polymatroid inequalities over binaries for the diagonal case. We prove that the convex inequalities completely describe the convex hull of a single conic quadratic constraint as well as the rotated cone constraint ove...

<p style='text-indent:20px;'>Caputo derivative operational matrices of the arbitrary scaled Legendre and Chebyshev wavelets are introduced by deriving directly from these wavelets. The Caputo used in quadratic optimization systems having fractional or integer orders differential equations. Using matrices, a new programming wavelet-based method without doing any integration operation for f...

This paper addresses the stabilization issue for fractional order switching systems. Common Lyapunov method is generalized for fractional order systems and frequency domain stability equivalent to this method is proposed to prove the quadratic stability. Some examples are given to show the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed theory.

Based on the quadratic spline function, a quadratic spline collocation method is presented for the time fractional bioheat equation governing the process of heat transfer in tissues during the thermal therapy. The corresponding linear system is given. The stability and convergence are analyzed. Some numerical examples are given to demonstrate the efficiency of this method. c ©2016 All rights re...

We give an infinite class of counterexamples to the Gotsman-Linial conjecture when d = 2. On the other hand, we establish an asymptotic form of the conjecture for quadratic threshold functions whose non-zero quadratic terms define a graph with either low fractional chromatic number or few edges. Our techniques are elementary and our exposition is self-contained, if you're into that.

In this paper, an adaptive control problem is formulated and solved for a scalar linear stochastic system perturbed by a fractional Brownian motion and an ergodic (or average cost per unit time) quadratic cost functional. The Hurst parameter for the fractional Brownian motion may take any value in (1/2, 1).

We consider discrete analogues of fractional Radon transforms involving integration over paraboloids defined by positive definite quadratic forms. We prove that such discrete operators extend to bounded operators from `p to `q for a certain family of kernels. The method involves an intricate spectral decomposition according to major and minor arcs, motivated by ideas from the circle method of H...
