A novel heteroleptic ruthenium complex carrying a heteroaromatic-4,4'-pi-conjugated 2,2'-bipyridine [Ru(II)LL'(NCS)(2)] (L = 4,4'-bis[(E)-2-(3,4-ethylenedioxythien-2-yl)vinyl]-2,2'-bipyridine, L' = 4,4'-(dicarboxylic acid)-2,2'-bipyridine) was synthesized and used in dye-sensitized solar cells, yielding photovoltaic efficiencies of 9.1% under standard global AM 1.5 sunlight.

Depending on stoichiometry, reactions of the mixed valence Sn(0)/Sn(III) compound Sn(SnAr(3))(2) (1) (Ar = C(6)H(4)(O(i)Pr)(2)-2,6) with the likewise substituted plumbylene PbAr(2) (3) afforded either the homoleptic distannylplumbylene Pb(SnAr(3))(2) (4) or the heteroleptic arylstannylplumbylene Pb(Ar)SnAr(3) (5), a valence isomer of a stannaplumbene.

A one-step method to access to functionalized heteroleptic lanthanide double-decker complexes of phthalocyanine of A7B-type is reported. This optimized statistical method led to two hydroxylated model europium complexes, one of which was further converted into its mesylated and azido derivatives.

We synthesised heteroleptic azadipyrrinato-dipyrrinato hybrid zinc(II) complex 1-Zn-2, by means of the stepwise coordination method. Homoleptic bis(azadipyrrinato)zinc(II) complex 1-Zn-1 was non-fluorescent, whereas 1-Zn-2 exhibited detectable fluorescence from azadipyrrinato ligand 1.
