Chemical fungicides are used worldwide for enhance crop yield and control plant diseases. When crops are treated with chemical fungicides over a long period then some fungi develop resistance to these chemicals beside this these chemicals are harmful to other non target microorganism and disturb microbial community of soil. In view of these facts, it is urgent need to discover eco friendly, ren...

Datura stramonium is a widely used poisonous plant with great medicinal and economic value. Its chloroplast (cp) genome is 155,871 bp in length with a typical quadripartite structure of the large (LSC, 86,302 bp) and small (SSC, 18,367 bp) single-copy regions, separated by a pair of inverted repeats (IRs, 25,601 bp). The genome contains 113 unique genes, including 80 protein-coding genes, 29 tR...

The aim of this work was to investigate and compare the phytochemical screening and antimicrobial activities of different crude extracts from dry and fresh leaves of Datura metel. Different organic solvents including methanol, chloroform, hexane, ethyl acetate and butanol were used to prepare the crude extracts from the fresh and dry leaves. Antimicrobial activities of different crude extracts ...

It has been hypothesized that slow-growing plants are more likely to maximize above-ground biomass and fitness when defoliated by herbivores than those with an already high relative growth rate (RGR). Some populations of the annual herb Datura stramonium L. can tolerate foliar damage better than others. The physiological basis of this difference is examined here in a comparative study of two ec...

Using haploid and diploid Datura innoxia Mill, callus cultures and cell suspensions it was shown that meristematic material usually attains the lowest possible C-value of a given ploidy level. Parenchyma material of callus cultures, however, indicates a broad scattering of C-values up to 16 C, which is paralleled by C-value distribution of the free cell fraction in actively dividing cell suspen...

Thirty-six alkaloids were identified in the organs of Datura ceratocaula by GC/MS. Thirty-three of them have not been previously reported for the species. Furthermore, a new tropane ester was tentatively identified as 3-(3'-formyloxytropoyloxy)tropane on basis of its mass spectral fragmentation. Hyoscyamine was the main alkaloid in the plant organs.
