The title compound, C(22)H(28)O, was isolated from the aerial part of Inula viscosa- (L) Aiton [or Dittrichia viscosa- (L) Greuter]. The cyclo-hexene ring has a half-chair conformation, whereas the cyclo-hexane ring displays a chair conformation being substituted at position 2 by a 3-(4-methyl-phen-yl)prop-2-enoyl group. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link mol-ecules ...
The title compound, C(16)H(24)O(3), was isolated from the aerial part of Inula Viscosa- (L) Aiton [or Dittrichia Viscosa- (L) Greuter]. The mol-ecule contains two fused (trans) six-membered rings which both exibit a chair conformation. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into chains along [100] by weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the methyl and carbonyl groups.
Cytotoxic activity of gaillardin, a sesquiterpene lactone isolated from Inula oculus-christi L. (Asteraceae), was assessed in the human breast adenocarcinoma cell line MCF-7, human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line HepG-2, human non-small cell lung carcinoma cell line A-549, and human colon adenocarcinoma cell line HT-29, resulting in IC50 values of 6.37, 6.20, 4.76, and 1.81 microg/mL, respec...
BACKGROUND The flowers of Inula japonica (Inulae Flos) have long been used in traditional medicine for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. In the present study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory properties of Inulae Flos Extract (IFE). METHODS The anti-inflammatory effects of IFE against nitric oxide (NO), PGE(2), TNF-α, and IL-6 release, as well as NF-κB and MAP kinase activation wer...
We have identified through bioassay guided isolation an allelochemical, eudesmane-type sesquiterpeniod, 3beta-caffeoxyl-beta1,8alpha-dihydroxyeudesm-4(15)-ene (1), from an endemic plant species growing in the Himalayas. In our search for the bioactive subfraction, the hexane one was highly significant, showing 100% inhibition of lettuce seed growth at 100 ppm while other subfractions (chlorofor...
Entecavir (ETV) is an oral nucleoside analog inhibitor of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA polymerase, which is widely used in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Despite the excellent safety data of this agent, the adverse events of headache, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting are recorded in the drug instruction of ETV. Here we report two CHB patients with ETV-associated constipation in whom sympt...
