We consider a canonical ensemble of synchronization-optimized networks of identical oscillators under external noise. By performing a Markov chain Monte Carlo simulation using the Kirchhoff index, i.e., the sum of the inverse eigenvalues of the Laplacian matrix (as a graph Hamiltonian of the network), we construct more than 1,000 different synchronization-optimized networks. We then show that t...

The present work focuses on geometrically exact finite elements for highly slender beams. It aims at the proposal of novel formulations of Kirchhoff-Love type, a detailed review of existing formulations of Kirchhoff-Love and SimoReissner type as well as a careful evaluation and comparison of the proposed and existing formulations. Two different rotation interpolation schemes with strong or weak...

h explicitly solvable analog of the Kirchhoff flow for the case of a semipenetrable obstacle is considered. Its application to estimating the efficiency of free flow turbines is discussed. @ 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved. Keywords-Cavitation flows, Kirchhoff method.

In this note we present a symbolic-numeric method to the problem of tube modeling in CAD systems. Our approach is based on the Kirchhoff kinetic analogy which allows us to find analytic solutions to the static Kirchhoff equations for rods under given boundary conditions.

Molecular and cell biological processes often use proteins and structures that are significantly longer in one dimension than they are in the other two, for example, DNA, actin, and bacterial flagella. The dynamics of these structures are the consequence of the balance between the elastic forces from the structure itself and viscous forces from the surrounding fluid. Typically, the motion of th...

A Polyomino is an edge–connected union of cells in the planar square lattice. Here we consider generalized linear polyominoes; that is, the polyominoes supported by a n × 2 lattice. In this paper, we obtain the Green function and the Kirchhoff index of a generalized linear polyomino as a perturbation of a 2n–path by adding weighted edges between opposite vertices. This approach deeply links gen...
