The leafhopper genus Atkinsoniella was originally established by Distant (1908) for two species with A. decisa as type species. So far, 75 valid species are known worldwide and of these, 63 are from China (Yang et al. 2011). Because Atkinsoniella is a very large and morphologically heterogeneous genus it is desirable to recognize smaller groups of species with distinctive characteristics.

The leafhopper genus Parafagocyba Kuoh et Hu, 1992 and Zorka Dworakowska, 1970 are reviewed. One new species of Parafagocyba is described and illustrated, Parafagocyba forficula n. sp., and Parafagocyba multimaculata Kuoh et Hu 1992 is transferred to the genus of Zorka Dworakowska, 1970. during the study of rice pests in firoozabad, fars province, iran in june 2002, leafhopper specimens were collected on rice stems. the specimens were identified as typhlocyba (edwardsiana) avellanae (edwards) by unal zeybekuglu, ondokuz mayys university, turkey. this species is a new record for iran.
