This paper presents a high speed and area efficient DWT processor VLSI based design for Image Compression applications. In this proposed design, pipelined partially serial architecture has been used to enhance the speed along with optimal utilization and resources available on the target FPGA. The architecture consists of two row processors, two column processors, and two memory modules. Each p...
background: manual material handling is one of the major health and safety hazards in industry. this study aims to assess the lifting tasks, before and after intervention using niosh lifting equation and manual handling assessment charts (mac). methods: this interventional study was performed in 2011 in a tile manufacturing industry in hamadan, located in the west of iran. the prevalence of mus...
background: low back pain caused by work, ranked the second after cardiovascular diseases, are among the most common reasons of patients’ referral to the physicians in iran. this study aimed to determine the changes in back compressive force when measuring maximum acceptable weight of lift in iranian male students. methods: this experimental study was conducted in 2015 on 15 young male students...
In this paper, we present two Integer Programming formulations for the k-Cardinality Tree Problem. The first is a multiflow formulation while the second uses a lifting of the Miller-Tucker-Zemlin constraints. Based on our computational experience, we suggest a two-phase exact solution approach that combines two different solution techniques, each one exploring one of the proposed formulations.
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Non-lifting large laterally spreading colorectal lesions (LSLs) are challenging to resect endoscopically and often necessitate surgery. A safe, simple technique to treat non-lifting LSLs endoscopically with robust long-term outcomes has not been described. METHODS In this single-center prospective observational study of consecutive patients referred for endoscopic mucosa...
Introduction: Manual Material handling includes activities in which pushing, pulling, lifting, lowering, carrying, and holding the load, the most common of which is lifting. This study aimed to evaluate the reliability of the KIM-LHC method to identify high-risk manual load lifting tasks. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on healthy male workers with a history of m...
Explanations for the ineffectiveness of lifting training often focus on the nature of the workplace. However, the process through which workers select a lifting method may contain priorities based on energy expenditure, unique anthropometry, lifting experience, personality profile or other characteristics of the individual worker. This empirical investigation studied the lifting technique selec...
We explore the lifting question in the context of cut-generating functions. Most of the prior literature on lifting for cut-generating functions focuses on which cut-generating functions have the unique lifting property. Here we develop a general theory for understanding how to do lifting for cut-generating functions which do not have the unique lifting property.
In this paper theorems are proved which provide for lifting and projecting expansive homeomorphisms through pseudocovering mappings so that the lift or projection is also an expansive homeomorphism. Using these techniques it is shown that the compact orientable surface of genus 2 admits an expansive homeomorphism.
Two-person or team lifting is a popular method for handling materials under awkward or heavy lifting conditions. While many guidelines and standards address safe lifting limits for individual lifting, there are no such limits for team lifting, and these lifts are poorly understood. The literature associated with team lifting offers some interesting paradoxes. Many studies have indicated that pe...
