A linear-like discrete-time fuzzy controller was designed to control and stabilize a single-pool irrigation canal. Saint Venant equations for open-channel flow were linearized using the Taylor series and a finite-difference approximation of the original nonlinear partial differential equations. Using the linear optimal control theory, a traditional linear quadratic regulator (LQR) was first dev...

and damper do not provide energy to the suspension system and control only the motion of the car body and wheel by limiting the suspension velocity according to the rate determined by the designer, T~ the above problem, active suspension systems have been proposed by various [3,4,51. Active suspension systems dynamically respond to changes in the road profile because of their ability to supply ...

Meeting optical beam jitter requirements is becoming a challenging problem for several space programs. A laser beam jitter control test bed has been developed at the Naval Postgraduate School to develop improved jitter control techniques. Several control techniques, such as least means squares and linear–quadratic regulator were applied for jitter control. Enhancement in least means squares tec...

We present and solve a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) for the boundary control of beam equation. use simple technique completing square to get an explicit solution. By decoupling spatial frequencies we are able reduce infinite dimensional LQR family two LQRs each which can be solved explicitly.

We review the example of linear quadratic regulator (LQR) problem given in paper[2] by A. Chapelon and C.-Z. Xu. We discuss three different algebraic Riccati equations that are associated to such LQR problems.

In this paper, we present a discussion of the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) as applied to simulation and feedback control of the one dimensional heat equation. We provide two examples of input collections to which the POD process is applied. First, we apply POD directly to the nite element basis of linear B-splines. Next we additionally include time snapshots. We show that although the ...
