If X is a topological space, then we let H(X) denote the group of autohomeomorphisms of X equipped with the compact-open topology. For subsets A and B of X we define [A, B] = {h ∈ H(X) : h(A) ⊂ B}, and we recall that the topology on H(X) is generated by the subbasis SX = {[K , O] : K compact, O open in X}. If X is a compact Hausdorff space, then H(X) is a topological group, that is, composition...
We investigate conditions under which a co-computably enumerable closed set in a computable metric space is computable and prove that in each locally computable computable metric space each co-computably enumerable compact manifold with computable boundary is computable. In fact, we examine the notion of a semi-computable compact set and we prove a more general result: in any computable metric ...
We study universal properties of locally compact G-spaces for countable infinite groups G. In particular we consider open invariant subsets of the G-space βG, and their minimal closed invariant subspaces. These are locally compact free G-spaces, and the latter are also minimal. We examine the properties of these G-spaces with emphasis on their universal properties. As an example of our results,...
We introduce a general method of constructing locally compact scattered spaces from certain families of sets and then, with the help of this method, we prove that if κ = κ then there is such a space of height κ with only κ many isolated points. This implies that there is a locally compact scattered space of height ω2 with ω1 isolated points in ZFC, solving an old problem of the first author.
This paper is a continuation of the paper [4]. In [4] it was shown that there exists a duality Ψa between the category DSkeLC (introduced there) and the category SkeLC of locally compact Hausdorff spaces and continuous skeletal maps. We describe here the subcategories of the category DSkeLC which are dually equivalent to the following eight categories: all of them have as objects the locally co...
We force a first countable, normal, locally compact, initially ω1-compact but non-compact space X of size ω2. The onepoint compactification of X is a non-first countable compactum without any (non-trivial) converging ω1-sequence.
We study weakly compact operators from a C∗-algebra with values in a complete locally convex space. They constitute a natural non-commutative generalization of finitely additive vector measures with values in a locally convex space. Several results of Brooks, Sâıto and Wright are extended to this more general setting. Building on an approach due to Sâıto and Wright, we obtain our theorems on no...
it is well known that every (real or complex) normed linear space $l$ is isometrically embeddable into $c(x)$ for some compact hausdorff space $x$. here $x$ is the closed unit ball of $l^*$ (the set of all continuous scalar-valued linear mappings on $l$) endowed with the weak$^*$ topology, which is compact by the banach--alaoglu theorem. we prove that the compact hausdorff space $x$ can ...
In this paper, a Krein-Milman type theorem in $T_0$ semitopological cone is proved, in general. In fact, it is shown that in any locally convex $T_0$ semitopological cone, every convex compact saturated subset is the compact saturated convex hull of its extreme points, which improves the results of Larrecq.
In this paper we give some necessary and sufficient conditions for which each Banach lattice is space and we study some properties of b-weakly compact operators from a Banach lattice into a Banach space . We show that every weakly compact operator from a Banach lattice into a Banach space is b-weakly compact and give a counterexample which shows that the inverse is not true but we prove ...
