The title compound, (NH4)2[Zn(NCS)4]·2C12H24O6·H2O, the result of the reaction of ammonium thio-cyanate, 18-crown-6 and zinc(II) chloride in aqueous solution, exhibits an unusual supra-molecular structure. The Zn atom, two of the thio-cyanate chains and a water mol-ecule, disordered over two positions, lie on a mirror plane. The macrocycle adopts a conformation with approximate D 3d symmetry. T...

We developed a set of processes for depositing silver nanoparticles on a glass substrate that involves using a modifi ed silver mirror reaction, whereby dispersants are added to a conventional silver mirror solution. The whole set of processes was completed in 15 min in a nonvacuum environment, except the cleaning processes with oxygen plasma at 20 Pa, and at a low cost. The processes can be ap...

Motor learning tasks are often classified into adaptation tasks, which involve the recalibration of an existing control policy (the mapping that determines both feedforward and feedback commands), and skill-learning tasks, requiring the acquisition of new control policies. We show here that this distinction also applies to two different visuomotor transformations during reaching in humans: Mirr...

We challenge Cook et al.'s claim about the vagueness of the notion of action understanding in relation with mirror neurons. We show the multidimensional nature of action understanding and provide a definition of motor-based action understanding, shedding new light on the various components of action understanding and on their relationship. Finally, we propose an alternative perspective on the o...

In 3 experiments, the authors investigated the impact of action goals on the production of discrete bimanual responses. Similar to a bartender putting 2 glasses simultaneously on a shelf, participants placed 2 objects into either parallel or opposite orientations by carrying out either mirror-symmetrical or mirror-asymmetrical movements. In Experiment 1, performance was strongly affected by the...

The title compound, [Ti(C5H5)2(C9H11F12NO4P2)], is a four-membered titanacycle obtained from the reaction of Cp2Ti(η(2)-Me3SiC2SiMe3) and CH3N[P(OCH2CF3)2]2 {N,N-bis-[bis-(tri-fluoro-eth-oxy)phosphan-yl]methyl-amine, tfepma}. The Ti(II) atom is coordinated by two cyclo-penta-dienyl (Cp) ligands and the chelating tfepma ligand in a strongly distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The mol-ecule is locat...

We developed a simple, non-enzymatic approach for the colorimetric detection of glucose based on a gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) assisted silver mirror reaction (AuSMR). The linear range of the concentration of glucose is from 0.04 mM to 1 mM, and the lowest concentration that can be distinguished by the naked eye is 10 nM. This approach has been successfully used for detecting glucose in serum.
