It is argued that if we take grounding to be univocal, then there is a serious tension between truthgrounding and one commonly assumed structural principle for grounding, namely transitivity. The primary claim of the paper is that truth-grounding cannot be transitive. Accordingly, it is either the case that grounding is not transitive or that truth-grounding is not grounding, or both.
Invariants of topological spaces of dimension three play a major role in many areas, in particular . . . Introduction by the Organisers The workshop Invariants of topological spaces of dimension three, organised by Max Muster (München) and Bill E. Xample (New York) was well attended with over 30 participants with broad geographic representation from all continents. This workshop was a nice blen...
The recent experimental results on neutrino oscillation and on muonium-antimuonium conversion require extension of the minimal 3-3-1 model. We review the constraints imposed to the model by those measurements and suggest a pattern of leptonic mixing, with charged leptons in a non-diagonal basis, which accounts for the neutrino physics and circumvents the tight muonium-antimuonium bounds on the ...
We consider n observations from the GARCH-type model: S = σ2Z, where σ2 and Z are independent random variables. We develop a new wavelet linear estimator of the unknown density of σ2 under four different dependence structures: the strong mixing case, the β- mixing case, the pairwise positive quadrant case and the ρ-mixing case. Its asymptotic mean integrated squared error properties are ...
intercropping systems lead to reduce weeds population and their biomass. in order to study effect of marigold (calendula officinalis) and mungbean (vigna radiata) intercropping in different sowing times on yield and weeds control a factorial experiment based on randomized complete block design was performed in islamic azad university, tabriz branch, iran, during 2012 in three replications. stud...
The present status of the problem of neutrino mass, mixing and neutrino oscillations is briefly summarized. The evidence for oscillations of atmospheric neutrinos found recently in the Super-Kamiokande experiment is discussed together with the results of the solar neutrino experiments and the accelerator LSND experiment.
The goal of this activity is to help students better understand the nonintuitive concept of diffusion and introduce them to a variety of diffusion-related processes in the ocean. As part of this activity, students also practice data collection and statistical analysis (e.g., average, variance, and probability distribution functions). This activity is also used as an introduction for a subsequen...
The role canyons play in abyssal mixing is discussed, with a focus on the issue of low-frequency flow over sills and associated overturning instability as opposed to tidally generated mixing. Flow through several deep canyons on the mid-ocean ridge is reviewed and some global consequences are discussed.
We extend the Lindeberg method for the central limit theorem to strongly mixing sequences. Here we obtain a generalization of the central limit theorem of Doukhan, Massart and Rio to nonsta-tionary strongly mixing triangular arrays. The method also provides estimates of the L evy distance between the distribution of the normalized sum and the standard normal.
We perform a molecular dynamical study of the isolated d = 1 classical Hamiltonian H =
