Come with us to read a new book that is coming recently. Yeah, this is a new coming book that many people really want to read will you be one of them? Of course, you should be. It will not make you feel so hard to enjoy your life. Even some people think that reading is a hard to do, you must be sure that you can do it. Hard will be felt when you have no ideas about what kind of book to read. Or...
Both the linear (at low doses)-no-threshold (LNT) and the threshold models (S-shapes) dose-response lead to no benefit from low exposure. We propose three new models that allow and include, but do not require - unlike LNT and S-shaped models - this strong assumption. We also provide the means to calculate benefits associated with bi-phasic biological behaviors, when they occur and propose:THREE...
To identify the precursors and elucidate the reaction conditions that yield heterocyclic amine mutagens in cooked meat products and fish, we have used a supernatant 2 (S2) fraction prepared from H2O-homogenized lean round steak. Compounds (MW less than 500) in S2 are the sources of the microsomal-dependent, Salmonella TA 1538 mutagenic activity in open boiled (aqueous), 200 degrees C pressure-h...

This article is an expanded summary of the workshop discussions. Its objective is to add perspective and future orientation to the scientific symposium presented in the previous articles of this volume.
SUMMARY Bacteria deficient in DNA polymerase are much more sensitive to agents that alter cellular DNA than the parent strain from which they were derived. Advantage can be taken of this greater sensitivity to screen for potential mutagens and carcinogens.
Abasic sites (1, Scheme 1), which are generated by hydrolysis of the glycosidic bonds connecting the heterocyclic nucleobases to the deoxyribose backbone, represent the most common type of damage suffered by genomic DNA.1 Spontaneous hydrolysis yields approximately 10,000 abasic sites per cell per day. In addition, exposure of DNA to radiation, mutagens, and anticancer drugs can lead to the gen...
