Reductive decomplexation of the cyclization products is possible, and the method has been applied to a formal synthesis of isoschizandrin.
The conversion of 3,4-dialkoxy-benzenes into dialkoxy-benzo-1,3,2-dithiazolyls is described and representative examples (1 and 2) derived from benzodioxole and veratrol, respectively, are reported.
