The synthesis is described of a series of meta and para-substituted phenylsulfonate derivatives of very bright Eu(III) complexes with arylphosphinate groups and strongly absorbing arylalkynylpyridine moieties. The synthetic route involved the early introduction of trifluoroethyl esters to protect the sulfonic acid group, withstanding the use of reagents including acetyl bromide and mCPBA, and t...

Spectra of the manganese (Abstract We have prepared and characterized a few Mn (III) complexes by using a few bidentate and tridentate ligands. Spectra of the manganese (III) ion in a variety of molecular environments are reported . On the basis of solution spectra, some of these co...

Abstract: Systematic studies on the substituent effect in para substituted Fe(CO)4–pyridine complexes have been studied on the basis of DFT quantum-chemical calculations. The following substituents were taken into consideration: NO2, CN, CHO, F, H, CH3, and OH. Additionally, the Fe–N and Fe–C bonds were characterized on the basis of Atoms in Molecules topological analysis of electron density. I...

Three different tetraazamacrocyclic ligands containing four amide substituents that feature groups (namely allyl, styryl and propargyl groups) suitable for polymerisation have been synthesised. Gadolinium(III) complexes of these three ligands have been prepared as potential monomers for the synthesis of polymeric MRI contrast agents. To assess the potential of these monomers as MRI contrast age...

Complexes of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) with copper(II) halogenides are unstable. Upon formation, these complexes decompose to give haloamidinium salts. Contrastingly, O-substituted copper(II) NHC complexes are fairly stable. A series of new five-, six- and seven-membered ring NHC complexes of Cu(OAc)(2) have been synthesised and characterised in the solid state.

A class of monoorganoimido-substituted hexamolybdates containing a pyridine group have been firstly synthesized. Furthermore, a reaction protocol of alkylation based on the resulting pyridine-functionalized hexamolybdates has been developed, with which a type of zwitterionic clusters has been successfully obtained.

The self-assembly features of a series of (non)symmetrical Zn(salphen) complexes have been studied in detail by X-ray crystallography, NMR and UV-vis techniques. The combined data demonstrate that the stability of these dimeric assemblies and the relative position of each monomeric unit within the dinuclear structure depend on the location and combination of the aromatic ring substituents.
