BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to confirm recent results from a previous study focussing on the development of a method to measure the bacterial translocation through puncture holes in surgical gloves under real surgical conditions. METHODS An established method was applied to detect bacterial migration from the operating site through the punctured glove. Biogel double-gloving surgical ...
A total of 480 examination gloves (240 vinyl and 240 latex) were stressed by using manipulations designed to mimic patient care. At the highest use level, 38 (63%) of 60 vinyl gloves leaked bacteriophage phi X174 compared with 4 (7%) of 60 latex gloves. At lower use levels, there was no statistically significant difference in leakage.
In the presence of magnesium and hexamethylphosphorictriamide, HMPT, trimethylchlorosilane, TMS-C1, reacts with cyanoepoxides to give related compounds. Ring cleavage at ? - position of cyanoepoxide, 1, followed by the addition of two trimethylsilyl groups leads to 2 then substitution of OSiMei by trimethylsilyl or H takes place to give ?, ? - bis (trimethylsilyl) nitrile or ? - trimethyls...
Tool-specific performance of vibration-reducing gloves for attenuating fingers-transmitted vibration
BACKGROUND Fingers-transmitted vibration can cause vibration-induced white finger. The effectiveness of vibration-reducing (VR) gloves for reducing hand transmitted vibration to the fingers has not been sufficiently examined. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study is to examine tool-specific performance of VR gloves for reducing finger-transmitted vibrations in three orthogonal directions (3D)...
Skin irritation and contact allergies are skin disorders common to hairdressers. The predominant oxidative hair dye components, such as p-phenylenediamine (PPD) and aminophenol isomers, can cause contact dermatitis. Use of protective gloves can prevent dermal contact with skin irritants. This study investigates the permeation behaviors of p-aminophenol (PAP), m-aminophenol (MAP), o-aminophenol ...
Biotransformation of nitriles mediated by nitrile-amide converting enzymes has attracted considerable attention and developed tremendously in the recent years in China since it offers a valuable alternative to traditional chemical reaction which requires harsh conditions. As a result, an upsurge of these promising enzymes (including nitrile hydratase, nitrilase and amidase) has been taking plac...
