The principal findings of a study for further evaluating paraffin baiting as a routine laboratory diagnostic procedure in the isolation of Nocardia asteroides, the etiological agent of nocardiosis, are reported.
Nocardia seriolae is a pathogen that causes nocardiosis in marine and freshwater fish. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of N. seriolae strain ZJ0503, which was isolated from Trachinotus ovatus in Guangdong, China.
We describe here the first case of Nocardia nova spondylodiscitis accompanied by a psoas abscess due to spreading from pulmonary nocardiosis. Nocardia was cultured from all affected sites. After 1 year of an appropriate antimicrobial therapy and a surgical drainage of the abscess that was required, the patient's clinical condition had improved.
Pulmonary nocardiosis is a rare infection mostly occurs in patients with immunosuppressive conditions. We report an immunocompetent case of pulmonary Nocardia transvalensis from Turkey, presented with bilateral pneumonia and bronchial dilatation treated six months with trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole.
