The authors present a robust 3-D object recognition system for recognizing noisy images. Since a recognition system usually deals with objects taken from various viewpoints, their appearance will vary from one viewpoint to another. Generally, the appearance of an object changes along with the changes of image conditions, and so does its position in the eigenspace. Such changes may cause an inac...

Background and Objective: Parkinson’s disease is one of the neurodegenerative diseases along with learning and memory disorder. Phenolic compounds in olive leaf extract have antioxidant properties. The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect of hydroalcoholic extract of olive leaf on memory disorder induced by dopamine neurons impairment in male rat. Materials and Methods:...

Recognition memory requires judgments of the previous occurrence of stimuli made on the basis of the relative familiarity of individual objects, or by integrating information concerning objects and location, or by using recency information. The present study examined the role of the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) and perirhinal cortex (PRH) in these distinct recognition memory processes using ...

This paper surveys a new research field of object behavior classification using sequential syntactic pattern recognition, which recognizes high-level object behaviors while in parallel recovering from low-level object recognition classification errors. A new approach of syntactical object behavior classification with a robust implementation is introduced. It is an innovative approach that requi...

Material attributes have been shown to provide a discriminative intermediate representation for recognizing materials, especially for the challenging task of recognition from local material appearance (i.e., regardless of object and scene context). In the past, however, material attributes have been recognized separately preceding category recognition. In contrast, neuroscience studies on mater...

Spontaneous recognition of a novel object is a popular measure of exploratory behavior, perception and recognition memory in rodent models. Because of its relative simplicity and speed of testing, the variety of stimuli that can be used, and its ecological validity across species, it is also an attractive task for comparative research. To date, variants of this test have been used with vertebra...

Although several studies in rats have found that hippocampal damage has negligible effects on anterograde object-recognition memory, the findings are not entirely conclusive, because most studies have used retention intervals lasting only a few hours. We assessed the effects of neurotoxic hippocampal lesions on anterograde object recognition, using a novel-object preference test, with retention...

We identified an effect of theanine on memory functions in a novel object test. Rats were fed theanine for 3 weeks ad libitum, and then they performed the object test. The theanine-fed group performed search behavior for the novel object in the test session. The results suggest that theanine-fed rats showed improved recognition, and that theanine affected learning and memory.

potassium bromide (kbr), an old antiepileptic agent, is illegally used in pharmaceutical or food industries to improve the product appearance. kbr has been proven to influence several pathways which are important in memory formation. therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of kbr on spatial working memory using object recognition task (ort). rats received a single dose of kbr ...
