Compacted soils used as formation layers of railways and roads continuously undergo water content suction changes due to seasonal variations. Such variations, together with the impact cyclic traffic-induced loads, can alter hydro-mechanical behaviour soil, which in turn affects performance superstructure. This study investigates hydraulic cycles on coupled retention response a compacted soil. S...

This laboratory investigation has been conducted to elucidate how the fi nes fraction affects the undrained residual shear strength and liquefaction potential of sand-silt mixtures (Algeria). A series of monotonic and cyclic undrained triaxial tests were carried out on undrained, reconstituted, saturated samples of sand with varying fi nes content ranging from 0 to 50%. These were undertaken in...

Thermally induced ratcheting of a thermo-active pile is the accumulation net and irreversible head displacement upon heating–cooling cycles. Although this kind phenomenon has been observed in vertically loaded piles sand, it unknown whether exists laterally cases, also what underlying mechanisms occur under thermomechanical flexural soil–pile interaction. This study presents series centrifuge t...

purpose: since explosive blasts continue to cause casualties in both civil and military environments, there is a need for an understanding of the mechanisms of blast trauma at the human organ level, plus a more detailed predictive methodology. the primary goal of this research was to develop a finite element model capable of predicting primary blast injury to the lung so as to assist in the dev...

in this paper, we have proposed a numerical method for singularly perturbed  fourth order ordinary differential equations of convection-diffusion type. the numerical method combines boundary value technique, asymptotic expansion approximation, shooting method and  finite difference method. in order to get a numerical solution for the derivative of the solution, the given interval is divided  in...

This work proposes a theoretical framework for the permanent deformation calculation of unsaturated granular materials. The approach is based on separation Soil Water Retention Curve (SWRC) into three linear phases. representation makes unique wetting and drying paths with newly defined normalized suction s/s*. same curves deformations value are then developed. proposed initially applied to rep...

Monopile response under undrained conditions in sand is gaining increasing interests owing to the recent development of offshore wind farms seismic regions. Pore pressure evolution liquefiable soil can significantly reduce strength and stiffness which turn affects structural dynamic response. Several numerical models have been developed last two decades enhance understanding mechanism monopile–...

‎In this article‎, we use a finite difference technique‎ ‎to solve variable-order fractional integro-differential equations‎ ‎(VOFIDEs‎, ‎for short)‎. ‎In these equations‎, ‎the variable-order fractional integration(VOFI) and‎ ‎variable-order fractional derivative (VOFD) are described in the‎ ‎Riemann-Liouville's and Caputo's sense,respectively‎. ‎Numerical experiments‎, ‎consisting of two exam...

The paper presents typical phenomena which can occur due to cyclic loading in granular soil. Numerical analysis with different material laws shows the challenges to simulate the ground behaviour realistically. Results of numerical analysis by means of the Finite-Element-Method are presented and the limitation of material laws discussed.
