The soil fungus Rhizoctonia solani is a pathogen of agricultural crops. Here, we report on the 51,705,945 bp draft consensus genome sequence of R. solani strain Rhs1AP. A comprehensive understanding of the heterokaryotic genome complexity and organization of R. solani may provide insight into the plant disease ecology and adaptive behavior of the fungus.

Seven seed borne fungi were isolated from sugar beet seeds viz. Alternaria alternata, Helminthosporium sp., Rhizopus stolonifer, Epicoccum sp., Rhizoctonia solani, Phoma betae and Fusarium oxysporium f. sp. betae. The last three fungi were found internal, while the others were external on seed surface. The internal fungi caused root-rot disease to sugar beet plants. Tre11tment of seeds with eac...

biological control of some plant diseases caused by rhizoctonia solani has been considered as an alternative to chemicals control. rhizobacterium burkholderia cepacia is of current interest as a successful biocontrol agent, and registered as a microbial pesticide by us environmental protection agency. several research works have suggested that nitrogen fixing is also a common feature of most st...

Sheath blight disease is caused by a necrotrophic fungal pathogen Rhizoctonia solani and it continues to be a challenge for sustainable rice cultivation. In this study, we adopted a multi-pronged approach to understand the intricacies of rice undergoing susceptible interactions with R. solani. Extensive anatomical alteration, chloroplast localized ROS, deformed chloroplast ultrastructure along ...
