Most of the currently deployed wireless sensor networks applications do not require performance control. The goal of the GINSENG project is sensor networks that meet application-specific performance targets, in particular with respect to latency and reliability. We present scenarios within the GALP oil refinery where the system will be deployed and some initial technical insights with respect t...

The genome sequences of Pseudomonas balearica strains LS401 (CCUG 66666) and st101 (CCUG 66667) have been determined. The strains were isolated as naphthalene degraders from polluted marine sediment and from a sample from an oil refinery site, respectively. These genomes provide essential data about the biodegradation capabilities and the ecological implications of P. balearica.

In this work we investigated the structure of the iron-stimulated surface tension reducing substances produced by P. citronellolis 222A isolated from a 17-years old landfarming used for sludge treatment in petrochemical industries and oil refinery. Its mass spectrum differs from P. aeruginosa spectrum, indicating that the surface tension reducing substances produced by P. citronellolis can be a...

Inventory control of spare parts is essential to many organizations, since excess inventory leads to high holding costs and stock outs can have a great impact on operations performance. This paper proposes a methodology for effective spare parts inventory control, motivated by a case study at a large oil refinery. Different demand modeling techniques and inventory policies are evaluated using r...

This paper identifies and discusses critical factors that are important in effectively implementing risk-based decision making for corrective action. In addition, approaches are presented to address these factors. A corrective action project at an oil refinery is used to illustrate the ideas presented.

INTRODUCTION This study assessed the air exhaustion control of corrugated plate interceptor (CPI) oil separators in a refinery wastewater treatment plant for biodegradation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by deep activated sludge aeration systems. Three approaches were used to derive VOC emission factors: * (a) Calculating using the aeration rate and VOC gas-liquid equilibrium concentratio...
